— 3 schools had 2 breaches; 45 had 1
Barnet
— 34 of the local authority’s 107 schools did not comply with the code
— Hasmonean primary (a Jewish school), had committed 10 breaches of the code: failing to comply with special needs legislation, limiting priority to Jewish children, requesting personal information from parents, asking for financial contributions, giving priority to relatives of former pupils no longer attending the school, giving priority to children of staff, governors exercising discretion over admission of children, incorrect placing of children on waiting list, compelling parents to fill out a supplementary form, and asking on the form for inappropriate information
— 1 school had 8 breaches, another 7 committed more than 5
— Six schools asked for “voluntary contributions”:
Beis Yaakov primary: Jewish girls’ school for 437 pupils aged 4 to 11. Latest Ofsted report said: “This is a good school with some very good features. Standards in English, mathematics and science at the end of Year 2 are above expectations and are well above average by the end of Year 6”
Mathilda Marks-Kennedy primary: Jewish school with 218 pupils aged 3 to 11 Latest Ofsted report said: “The school is highly oversubscribed. Inspirational and dedicated leadership by the headteacher and excellent teaching are the key factors in the school’s outstanding success”
St John’s Church of England primary: 245 male and female pupils aged 3 to 11 Latest Ofsted report said: “St John’s is a good school with some outstanding features. It has recovered very well from a period of difficulty”
The other three are Hasmomean High School, Hasmonean Primary School and Rosh Pinah Primary School
