If you are in a hurry to get your foot on the career ladder, a two-year fast-track degree might be the answer. Staffordshire offers these courses in accounting and finance, business management, computing science, English, geography and law. Reducing the expense of studying for a degree by a third, these courses match the time frame of those offered in the private sector by Buckingham.
Whichever degree you opt for, Staffordshire’s teaching and facilities are designed to equip you for the world of work; the proportion getting graduate-level jobs is high (78.8%), ranking the university in the top 25 in the UK.
Many tutors and lecturers have a strong background in industry. A £1m television centre gives students experience of working with industry-standard equipment. Forensic science undergraduates work in a crime scene house and psychology students have cognitive research and human sciences laboratories.
BA courses begin this month in football coaching, early childhood studies, radio production and modern history, as well as BSc courses in sports therapy and multiplayer online games design.
The region’s low cost of living is an attraction, with the university boasting some of the cheapest accommodation in the country. Rooms start at £55 per week and more than half the students get a bursary.
