The University of Liverpool offers students a balance that is hard to better: academic rigour, modern and ever-improving facilities, and a vibrant social environment.
With eight Nobel laureates bred from its stable over the years, it continues to earn its stripes as a research-led Russell Group university, attracting research grants whose total is greater at just 12 other British universities.
The faculty of engineering’s £36m restructure and the Sydney Jones library’s £17m refurbishment have both been completed and the university’s landmark redbrick Victoria building opened as a gallery and museum in July last year.
The teaching of veterinary medicine, rated excellent in formal teaching assessments — along with 22 other subjects — has benefited from £1m of investment. Wood Park dairy farm at the Leahurst veterinary campus on the Wirral now houses 200 cows.
Ten new degrees are launched this month ranging from ancient history to philosophy with Italian and dental hygiene/dental therapy.
