The celebrated grills, including the supremely tender beef, take centre stage here. The starters, such as salmon tartare with capers and gherkins, are also good, while a deliciously runny-centred chocolate fondant should bring things to a triumphant finish. Throughout May there will be a range of floral cocktails, garnished with edible flowers. Choose from the likes of the Daisy Duke, the Emerald Rose and the Wild Orchid, which is made from honey vodka, Frangelico, elderflower cordial, gomme syrup and apple juice.

The rustic decor at Dan's lends a villagey feel to the townhouse location, while the cooking relies heavily on seasonal vegetables. The bright conservatory extends summer into autumn, but the likes of pea and mint soup, poached salmon with new potatoes and mackerel with braised leeks taste best eaten in the garden during the warmer months.
