2 for 1 tickets to Singin' In The Rain, this coming Monday. Book now

We may have had one of the worst summers in British history, but the combination of the warm spring and the wet and cold months that followed has meant a bumper year for our apple and pear orchards. Our next-door neighbours have a beautiful, ancient pear tree growing in their garden, with bottom branches that stretch over the wall into ours. I’ve never seen a bounty so plentiful, with pears so full and ripe, you’d have thought the branches would have buckled under the sheer weight of the fruit.
The British plum season is coming to an end now, so make the most of the crop while you can. Together with some of the best apples and pears you may ever get your hands on, I implore you to get baking and indulge in this week’s autumnal pudding recipes. Be sure to buy fruit with a British stamp on.

Let's put our culiniary adventures into context now Gordon. Being all Anglocentric is not going to produce anything good but a blooby, sappy, and banal dish. A crop of blah British plum mixed with blah British pear, since these two fruits are probably grown in the same micro region, will give you something much desired. But, please all means use British local produce, but don't forget we are global. Do compliment the great Brit players with some French lavender, Thai basil flowers, English rosehip, Spanish oranges, and Chinese jasmine and ginger. My point is, compliment the British fruit in your desert-don't forget to supplement its short comings and further hieghten its flavors with a new taste from around the world.
