Organic vegetable boxes are not the only way to get quality food direct to your door. Meat-lovers can have organic meat and poultry boxes delivered to their home or work with the contents packed in ice.

Well Hung Meat (0845 2303131) offers meat boxes from £40 to £122, containing organic beef, lamb, pork, gammon, bacon and chicken. The meat selection varies every fortnight, and includes slow-cooking cuts in the winter. Delivery is £8.

Helen Browning’s Totally Organic (01793 790460) delivers a range of boxes. Its taster box contains topside beef, lamb chops, lamb mince, pork shoulder, pork chops and chicken breast, sausages and bacon all for £60. It also sells veal and offal. Boxes cost between £60-£124; delivery is £8.50.

The Riverford Meat Box (0845 6036091) offers organic cuts of roasting beef, diced lamb, beef burgers and country pâté, as well as an optional ready-prepared meal such as pheasant with spiced oranges and cheeseboard. Boxes cost between £44-£75; delivery is £5.

Eversfield Organic (0845 6038004) has launched a organic meat box for students. Packed with lots of easy to cook, sumptuous meats and recipe ideas, the boxes are delivered vacuum packed directly to student accommodation, and will keep in the fridge up to two weeks. Each pack contains a minimum weight of 2.4kg of delicious meats, and costs £34.50 (including carriage and packing). The meat is matured, hung and butchered in the traditional way, and all its animals are free range and grass fed, and farmed without the use of intensive production methods.
