A busy, seasonal café/restaurant on the harbour, making regional dishes from
seafood caught from its own boat. The 500 hives provide the honey that
flavours the restaurant’s special ice-cream.

Alan and Mary Ann Gilchrist run this award-winning restaurant serving modern
British food with a French influence. Winner of two Taste of Wales silver
awards this year for excellent use of local foods, much of the meat is
locally sourced and includes Carmarthen ham, beef and corn-fed chicken, and
there’s a fine Welsh and Celtic cheese selection.

A group of organic Welsh farmers, supplying Welsh mountain lamb, Welsh Black
beef, with pork from breeds such as Oxford Sandy and Gloucester Old Spot.
CARMARTHEN HAM

Chris and Ann Rees dry-cure Parma-like Carmarthen Ham in the Welsh farmhouse
fashion, air-drying it for up to nine months. They also produce Welsh ham,
which they liken to York ham and bacon.
EDWARDS OF CONWY

The speciality here is Welsh saltmarsh lamb (known in France as pré-salé). The
lambs graze on salt-tolerant coarse grasses and herbs and particularly
samphire, in coastal estuaries (in this case near Harlech). And, no, the
meat doesn’t taste of salt, but has its own flavour.

Bob and Carolyn Kennard farm chickens, lamb, beef and pork, organically. They
have built up a producer group of about 200 satellite organic farms and also
offer game birds, venison, duck, turkey and geese, as well as their
award-winning old-fashioned traditional spiced leg of Welsh Mountain mutton,
and smoked mutton ham.

the edible from the poisonous, Daniel Butler will put you right. He runs
