2007 La Finca Sauvignon Blanc, Mendoza, Finca La Celia, Argentina,
Co-op, down £1 to £2.99 until tomorrow.
The Co-op’s tasty Argentinian sauvignon blanc, a star buy if ever there was
one, is all mouthwatering zesty, grassy fruit that would be easily worth a
fiver.
2006 Stone Road Shiraz, Thierry Boudinaud, Vin de Pays d’Oc, France,
Co-op, down £1 to £3.49 until tomorrow.
While in the Co-op, make a beeline for this fine, ripe, spicy, briary,
Australian-sounding but distinctively French, almost Rhônesque red made in
the Languedoc.
2006 Calder Grove, Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon, South Eastern Australia, Somerfield,
down to £4.99 until February 26.
The classic Aussie red wine mix, with shiraz filling in cabernet’s centre, is
given a satisfying twist here with lots of fat, juicy, 14 per cent alcohol
berry fruit.
2004 Clos de l’Oratoire, Saint Emilion, Bordeaux, France,
Majestic’s fine wine stores, £19.99.
Order this brilliant bordeaux from your nearest fine wine store and wallow in
its fat, velvety, plummy, drink-now 2004 fruit from the bordeaux maestro
Stephan von Neipperg.
2005 Domaine de la Janasse, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Majestic’s fine
wine stores, £19.99.
2005 was not a great vintage in the southern Rhône but even so this gorgeous
ripe, sweet, inky, violet-scented, blackberry and herb, grenache
grape-dominant wine has star quality.

I tried the Caulder Grove It was awful 14% Sulphides thick and bitter. Awful before a meal and dreadful with it. A really nasty aftertaste that left the tongue tingling sort of gingery. A real mix of leftovers yuk
