Poor old Nick Clegg. Politicians are berated all day long for avoiding the question and then the Lib Dem leader tells Piers Morgan in an interview for GQ how many women he has slept with. Cue predictable headline on the front page of the Daily Mail yesterday: “Clegg: I've had no more than 30 lovers”. Much more interesting is the following quotation from Norman Wells of the charity Family and Youth Concern: “If his remarks are true, he ought to be hanging his head in shame.” Mr Wells apparently feels that 30 lovers is “promiscuous”. Blimey. A quick check among friends and colleagues reveals that 30 seems unshockingly average for a man of 41. As for Nick “Up to 30 lovers” Clegg, that is not a figure that will scare off most voters and might even gain him some admirers of the “at least he is a human being” variety.
