I want bright-turquoise rubber tiles for my bathroom floor. Where can I find a wide variety of funky colours and different designs? And would a carpenter or builder be able to lay it for me, or do I need a specialist?

One of the best places to start is the French manufacturer Dalsouple (01278 727733, www.dalsouple.com), which has a range of textured rubber flooring, ranging from a smooth finish to one with circular studs that provide grip even when wet. There are 80 colours, including turquoise, and the tiles come in 34cm or 68cm squares. Prices start at £41 per square metre.

Another company to try is Jaymart (01373 864926, www.jaymart.co.uk), which has a wide range of rubber and vinyl flooring. Its electric-blue turquoise tile, called Kinetics K6 Konvex, comes in 50cm square tiles; from £28 per square metre. The company can match Pantone or one-off individual paint colours to order.

Unless you know what you are doing, it is advisable to employ an experienced fitter.
