United Airlines is to offer free wi-fi access at its 27 Red Carpet Clubs and five International first class lounges in the US.
It will be available to Red Carpet Club members (which costs from $300 or 40,000 Mileage Plus miles a year), United customers travelling internationally with a first class or business class ticket and customers who purchase Red Carpet Club one-time passes for $50. Other passengers can still pay per-use charges.
Barbara Higgins, vice president, customer experience, said: “To deliver a best-in-class customer experience, we want to provide our guests with lounges that are convenient for conducting business and comfortable for relaxing in while travelling. We continue to refurbish our airport lounges to make them more comfortable, and based on further input from our guests, we are now providing complimentary wi-fi service to make it easier for them to stay connected."
The news follows British Airways’ decision to make wi-fi access free at its UK lounges last week.
