Angela Griffin, 31, is an actress best known as Fiona Middleton in Coronation Street, whom she played from 1993 to 1998. She was part of the original cast of the BBC medical drama Holby City and starred in Cutting It and Down To Earth.

Griffin, who is the voice of Amy, the vet in the children’s cartoon Postman Pat, lives in Northamptonshire with husband Jason Milligan and daughters Tallulah, three, and Mellissa, 11 months.

How much money do you have in your wallet?

I have £3. I never carry more than £10. I’m a real credit-card girl. If I have cash I just spend it, unless it’s a £50 note in which case I like to keep it — I’ve been known to hold on to one for over a year.

Do you have any credit cards?

I have a NatWest Mastercard for my business and another one for personal use.

I try to pay them off in full each month, although I haven’t been able to recently as we’ve just bought a new car and we’re in the process of buying a house in Barnet, north London — we exchanged yesterday.

The car is a new Ford S-Max. It’s a very practical seven-seater. It cost just under £20,000.

Is this a good time to buy property?

It’s a great time to buy. We managed to knock 10% off the asking price, which brought it down to just under £500,000.

We were in a good position too. We had a mortgage in place so we were able to negotiate with the vendor who was keen to sell up quickly.

It was a bit of a nightmare trying to fix a deal because they were being pulled in a matter of days. Luckily I had a good broker who was able to send an application through quickly.
