And can anyone please explain to me why a climate summit is held in a location where EVERYBODY will have to FLY to?
Dee, Edinburgh, UK
Could somebody please explain to me how scientists differentiate between natural climate-change and man-made climate change? The dead leaves revealed under the receding polar ice-cap in the Antarctic show that there were once forests there. Conversely, the fjords of Norway were scooped out into their geological shape by glaciers.
These two facts, among many, show that the polar ice-caps have expanded and receded through natural causes over millions of years. What scientific proof do we have that the current phase of global warming is man-made? (I would add that I am not a critic of the protesting cyclists reported in this column -- I simply want to know the scientific facts.)
Edmund Burke, Kingston upon Thames, England
Thanks to Rosie Lavan & Alice Fishburn for covering the Cycle Ride,& also for braving those fairly bad mid morning conditions. There didn't seem to be many reporters doing similar.i wouldn't say that perseverance necessarily gets one there, but it helps!! Our numbers were only 275 which translates into about 850 if the weather had been better.
Thanks,
