THE British National party (BNP) is heading for record gains in the May local elections, reflecting high levels of concern among voters about immigration.
The anti-immigration party, which has 53 local councillors, is set to at least double its representation, according to Professor Michael Thrasher of Plymouth University’s Elections Centre.
“They are gaining real votes,” he said. “It does look as though people aren’t reticent about voting for them any more. Unlike in the past, it’s no longer one man and a dog.”
Searchlight, the anti-fascist organisation which is running a “Stop the BNP” campaign for the local elections, has warned that the party poses a threat in 93 separate wards in the UK.
Thrasher said that 93 potential gains may not be an overestimate given the BNP’s recent showing in council by-elections.
Phil Edwards, a BNP spokesman, said that the party did not have a target for seat gains in the local elections but attacked Searchlight’s “Stop the BNP” campaign as being undemocratic.
He also criticised David Cameron, the Tory leader, for bowing to political pressure in sacking Patrick Mercer, his homeland security spokesman, for alleged racist comments.
“Why is it that the Marxists at Searchlight have this influence over Conservative politicians?” he asked.
While the BNP has been gaining support at the expense of Labour, it is also picking up some support from the Tories.
The BNP has been successful in attracting white working-class voters, particularly in depressed former industrial areas. Its vote tends to be highest in areas adjacent to those with large ethnic minority populations.
In recent council polls held in wards in Nuneaton, Burnley and Calderdale, the BNP’s vote has been between 27% and 36%. The effect of a BNP candidate also appears to increase turnout, suggesting that the party is good at getting its vote out.
Jon Cruddas, the Labour deputy leadership candidate, has warned that Labour is playing into the hands of the BNP by failing to provide enough social housing for local people.
Trade unions are also concerned about the party’s rise. “The BNP has been trying to gain support in the mining areas around
the country because in our absence, with the rundown of the mines, they’ve tried to target these areas,” said Steve Kemp, general secretary of the National Union of Mineworkers.
Last week Aslef, the rail union, lost a case in the European Court of Human Rights over its attempt to expel a member who had joined the BNP. Members of the party have recently set up a trade union, Solidarity, intended for party members who are not welcome in their existing unions.
“It’s a nationalist union but it is not a BNP union,” the party spokesman said. “There are a lot of ordinary working people who don’t like the way trade unions are being run.”

I have no issue with my fellow citizens if they are of a different origin or color-It matters is that we share a common British culture and respect it-Since seeing Undercover Mosque by Channel 4 and similar the real threat to our country is the muslim menace-I dont want to live in an Islamic state.
Dave, Bournemouth,
As a white British citizen I don't see how I can be labelled racist if I vote for a party which has my best interests in mind, the BNP. I know that most immigrants in London vote for Ken Livingstone and that is for the same reason- he has their best interests in his policies. Are they racist??
Miles, London, United KIngdom
The BNP
I am not a member of the BNP ( who knows what the future holds ?)but the things they say make sense It is about time that Britian got back its backbone for too long now we have lived in the most expensive country in the world too live and why is that ? I saw the BNP on TV and it was good
Dave, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND
We need people running this country that at least have some idea of what is going on and i think that the BNP may be what we have been looking for for some time now, my sport was banned by this and the last government and i have not voted since however i shall vote this time I am NOT Rascist
Dave, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND
I am voting BNP. Why? The majority of British voters want an end to uncontrolled mass immigration (up to 63% and rising, the Times), yet the three major parties are feigning deafness to the British people. Only by voting for the BNP can we scare mainstream politicians into listening to us.
Mark Collingwood, Oxford, United Kingdom
The reason the BNP are winning votes is because they are being honest about the state of our once great country, and the way the last few governments have ignored the people. All they care about is lining their own pockets and crippling the motorists by taxation. Now they have even begun to tax the poorest of our people. Good for the BNP they get my vote for sure.
Mike Chant, Salisbury , Wiltshire
Bring back the unions , lets fight for our rights as we did for people that are reaping the benifits now, Just look at the state of the country now ,After countless efforts to stave of stupid laws that go unheard ,Simply becuase the government know they can do anything they want , Have a good lif and tell me how you did it in the uk.
Frank, Worcester, United kingdom
Its about time we stood up and oposed these immigrants who have done nothing, but put a strain on the Governmnets budgets. They are also "jumping the queue" in the housing waiting lists, its a pity that there aren't any politicians lie Enoch Powell anymore because his river of blood speech is being proven.
Hope the BNP get to power and sort this joke of a place we call Great Britain out.
Paul Docherty, Glasgow, Royston,
John Cruddas certainly doesn't seem to have a problem with his own 'social housing'. But then we don't all get the generous allowances of MPs who find it difficult to travel from Westminster to Dagenham on the Underground and therefore need public money for a flat in Westminster.
John Connor, london, England (Just!)
As a member of the BNP I am as Rascist as the Black Policemans Association. I can't speak for the BNP or the BPA
ernie, Gravesend, UK
I"ve read the BNP"s policies & I agree with most of them. I live in a town [Boston Lincs] where employers actualy prefer to employ eastern europeans, and I"ts not just in the food factories, a law firm in the centre of town took on a pole because they thought they were best for the job. Employers think english people don"t want to work which is absolute codswallop. I was made redundant a few months ago
& applied for jobs and haven"t even had a reply, years ago I always got replies. Other english people I know
worked for years are now on benifits. Also several small independant shops have closed down that have been there for years because english people no longer have the money to spend. One of the owners [who was packing up at the time} told me that when I was out busking with a friend
who also agreed with the shop owner. The eastern Europeans are bleeding us dry. Soon no english people will be working in our area & will either leave for good or be dependant on benefits.
Tony Dunn, Boston, England
In reply to Sonia's comment.
I have just left my union after thirty years because they keep supporting these idiots who are running this country into the ground.
The union leaders are on such a good screw, they themselves are now nothing better than FAT CATS at the working classes expense. You only need to look at their retirement packages and your own.
They have become nothing more than agents for fiancial concerns ie Insurance Companies, Holidays, Breakdown Services, Loans and Pensions. Need I go on.
I dont blame anyone for looking for support elsewhere for things they believe in, which is something the unions no longer give their members.
Political Correctness and multiculturalism are not working, they are only reducing OUR ability to earn a living wage
So unless the major parties are prepared to stand for the electrates needs like SOME mp's are starting to do.
By the next general election they will be dropped like a brick by the middle class workers.
Mike, chorley,
Last night I was helping out at a local youth club for 12 to 18's. Run by leaders from the local Christian Fellowship Group.
One of the ladies said and I quote that as she now believes the Christian Belief is now the minority worship in this country, she and her family are now looking to move.
It seems once again that our tolerance to ethnic minorities coming here, plays an ever increasing reason why our own are leaving at a massive rate.
People do not trust the major parties any more. That is why although I have voted, I have spoilt the paper by writing NON OF THESE across it.
Hopefully as seen in Scotland, eventually the NON OF THESE will out vote all the candidates and then someone will have to stand for what the puplic want.
Mike, chorley,
we are in a very worrying time, i am 65 and work with a young lad of 30 , he told me that he has joined the bnp.now he is not in any way racist . but he has two young children and obviously wants his children to be able to have a good future, i have not cast a vote for over 8 years but even i will be voting for them , yes i have read all the negative reports but if you vote them in then in theory you can vote them out ,
we are to easy going hence we have the situation we have , typical saying [and we have all said it] its nothing to do with me , well it is do something
denny, nottingham, england
I have never even thought about voting for BNP before, but looking at the state my beloved country is in, due to the ineffective, pc fuelled, greedy collection of idiots who have been running britain into the ground whilst lining their own pockets at our expense, NOW IS THE TIME, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, i , and so many more like me are sick to the back teeth of being totally ignored, so many of the people i talk to on a daily basis have stated that they will be voting BNP when the time comes around, and whats more that i have noticed, people, ordinary people, are no longer silent or embarrassed about their intentions on voting day as regards the BNP. One thing though is definite, i WILL , at 48 years old, be voting BNP for the first time in my life, and as sure as eggs is eggs, it wont be the last.
KEVIN, Leicester, england
The "soft touch" Labour Party is a joke. They have ruined this country and run it into the ground. They are not for the British people and are only for the immigrants so they can line their own pockets. It's time to take our country back. I am sick and tired of this government. I have never voted before but I will be voting for the BNP in what ever election that comes up in the future and so will my family and friends. I am so pleased to hear that the British people have woken up and started to listen to what is happening to our country. Everywhere I go it's the talk of the town as people are disgusted with the way this country is being run. I am not a racist and I don't believe that the BNP are to. I am sick and tired of being a second class citizen in my own country as this shouldn't be the case as British people should be put first. It's all about giving justice to British people and the future of our children. Keep looking over your shoulders Mr Brown as your time is nearly up.
Angelica, London, England
B N P is our only hope, and I will be voting for them.
dan, Birmingham, U.K
I just hope if they do come to power, they dont try to take over the world like the germans and end up getting us wiped off the earth.
Ryan, leicester,
At last a voice which will have to be listened to.
Racist NO!... Frightened YES....
Patriot, Manchester,
If the BNP got away from the white supremacy drivel and concentrated on 21st Century issues like immigration etc many more British people would be behind them.Taking on Nazi policies only alienates decent people from them.GET UP TO DATE!!!!!!!!
Mike, London, UK
This is not just a British problem the whole of Europe seems swamped with 3 rd world immigrants, hence the rise of the Right in France,Netherlands, Austria as well as growing support here. It is a case of these immigrants not assimilating and having incompatible cultures with ours. Europe especially here and the Netherlands is overcrowded already!!
KW, Nottingham, UK
BNP you must be electable.
You must appeal to Working Class.Middle class & Up!
The only way to be is to be an electable party & win is to appeal to the people who care about Great Britain. Not so GREAT now but can be again.
This could win you next election is with the right polilicies.
This country needs change, it can not go on as it is going.
I speak for many!
honeybun, Oxford,
I live next door to a small terrace house with 10 asian children living in it, the mother is out in her yard every 10mins shouting in some language that certainly isnt english, the kids scream and shout all day and night and throw all the recycling bins around and rubbish into my back yard. I am sick of it, the father is very rarely seen im sure he will have two or three familys like this all on benifits. It makes me seethe while my wife and i work hard and pay taxes.
Please Please may the BNP come to power soon.
gary, preston, england
Being 18 i can see what impact this is having on children growing up in this socity now, i beleive the other partys should really start to worry because it seems to me that the BNP are the only party ready to look after our future and alot of people my age and abit older can see this, i feel for the little kids ,where i live in east london there not aloud a nativity play in certian shop windows around christmas time no more just incase it upsets other faiths !
Sam Heakin, Londom,
It's about time we realized that the BNP is the only party that is going
to do anything about this country and it's people.
ian mclennan, crewkerne, england
i have read all comments and i am an immigrants son my father was a prisoner of war here. the only sensible party to vote for is bnp
john, bolton, england
The BNP are I believe the 'New Wave'.
steph, Reading, U K
Sorry BNP but your too late the damage is done thanks to the docile, servile, complacent British public.
Alan Phillips, Wellingborough, England
Its interesting reading all the replies that people have made. My background is Asian and I was born in this country. My parents both served this land, my dad retired a Seargent in the RAF and my mum was a Nurse. Both my parents have worked hard for this country and so have my sister and I.
There was a time when I wanted to follow my dad into the Forces but racism put me off and hey, I'm a bona fide Christian and was baptised as such. I'm not a minority. Yes this country has a problem with immigration only because we dont have common sense policies to deal with people coming from Eastern Europe and also local councils are corrupt and inept.
What made this country great were the brave men who lost their lives during WW2. Have you all also forgotten the men of Jarrow, men of real integrity and faith?
I just hope that you remember when you vote BNP that someone could end up in hospital after getting beaten up by racist wannabees. If that happens I hope you''ll be proud of yourselves.
Anselm Lionel-Rajah, Bournemouth, UK
Im suprised to see so many pro BNP comments. I voted for them at the last local elections. I felt it was the only way to protest, I will be voting for them on Thursday. Blair & co have attempted to destroy our sense of nation & replace it with Multi Culti Tribalism. People have had enough, the main parties a scared to tackle the issues. The BNP are the only people who tell the truth regarding mass immigration. If the old guard wish to stop the BNP then the Tories must become Tories again & not allow the PC brigade to call the shots & set the agenda. I suspect when the BNP vote is greater than the ethinic vote we will see some big changes...
james t, Dewbury, W. Yorkshire
Vote BNP - it is our only hope
GT, godalming,
I will also be voting for the BNP come 3rd May 2007 whats wrong with trying to put the GREAT back into Great Britain.
John, Wrexham, Wrexham
This country is heading towards civil war it may take some years yet
but you can be certain of that fact.
what A mess. For all of you white anti bnp good foke why don,t you take your laptops out for a stroll around lozells or newtown
birmingham on a nice sumers evening and perhaps paint A bullseye on your face while your at it.
try that come back and tell me you havent seen the light.
dave, rowley regis,
This country is heading for civil war like it or not.what A mess.
All you white anti bnp foke should take your laptops for a stroll around lozells or newtown birmingham or somewere nice like that
on A evening and paint a bulleye on your face at the same time.
then if you still have a computer post another comment.
david, dudly, uk
I will be voting BNP yet again, Labour have destroyed this town I live in!
kieren, Burnley,
visit the BNP website read for yourselves and make up your own minds as to who gets your vote. don,t be put of by those who,s aim it is to deter you from even reading BNP policy by screaming racsist at you because they no once you dare to read you will be voting british national party. This is the real reason why mainstream party,s along with the media deny the BNP a platform.
joseph dobbie, sunderland, england
The title should have been immigration realities not immigration fears. Please make a note of it.
Old Atlantic, Atlantic City, NJ
It's simple. Read the BNP's manifesto and if you agree with all or most of it then vote for them. I did and I shall.
Ian, Leicester,
I also live in Scotland and the choices of who to vote for are stark.
The SNP, a so called Nationalist party wants to ditch the UK and drag us into bed with Brussels, no one has told them you cant be "Independent" and controlled by the EU.
Perhaps someone has of course but the candidates see the potential for a bigger trough that like the Kinnock PLC, the whole of their families can get a job?
The SNP also openly wants the Muslim block vote and is promising all sorts to get it like schools, mosques etc.
No the BNP is the only credible though much maligned party out there.
They get my two votes.
Eleanor, Glasgow, UK
The Bnp will most definatley have my vote its about time britain became great britain once again, and freedom of speech was allowed, i want to live in a country that i am proud of sadly to say at present their isnt much to be proud of. Good luck to the BNP in the local elections lets make great britain great once again
emma, durham, england
The BNP address some very real issues and the "Stop the BNP" brigade fail to understand that these will not dissappear by seeing who can shout racist and facist the loudest or by underhand tactics like ousting BNP members. Much could be learnt from the French election where the far right was defeated by mainstream parties addressing these issues with alternative policies instead of sticking their heads in the sand like British main parties tend to do.
Bernie, Croydon, Surrey
What a great article and how heartening to see the level of support for the BNP. I will be voting for them for the first time and joined the party last week.
I received an e-mail thanking me but saying that due to unprecedented new memberships I'd be waiting around two weeks for my card.
Originally I'd planned it as a protest vote (I was a Tory) but now fully support their sensible policies.
I'm a teacher so obviously cant talk about it to colleagues, (NUT have voted to sack teachers who support the BNP) but I detect a growing thawing of attitudes to many of their policies from those of us in the front line.
The other parties have left us no choice .
Margaret, Scotland, UK
I will be voting BNP for the first time in May,It is time a party came forward willing to address the immigration problem and the problems with sending OUR troops to distant climes to die for ..WHAT?
Val, Manchester, uk
Can't stand Blair- Same goes for Cameron but the BNP is the thin end of the Nazi Wedge, Beware the Brown Shirt beneath their Suit, shirt & tie.
Andy, Leicester, Leics
If you go into Bournemouth to shop you'll be hard pushed to find someone other than Eastern European to serve you at the counters. When you walk through the town you'll be lucky to hear the people walking past speaking English!
This is the same in all large towns. This country is being over-run with foreigners and the tide of migrants has got to turn.
The BNP will certainly have my vote, not just in the next local elections, but in ALL future elections too.
Peter, Christchurch, DORSET, England
I've had enough of the status quo. Enough is enough. The BNP will get my vote!
Andy, Manchester,
I will be voting for the BNP on the 3rd May 2007, watch out for the greatest ever local Council results.
Simon Towers, Dewsbury West Yorkshire,
When I think of some of the comments I have heard from old soldiers who fought for this country in the last world war and what they think has happened to the country that so many fought and died for-some might be forgiven for believing it was not worth the struggle and should have surrendered to Germany in 1940
The liberal socialist sentiments that have shaped political thought that has dominated British politics in the post war period will only come to an end when the indiginous population stand up and be counted.
VOTE BNP
JIM BROWN, GLASGOW, UK
I hope so much this is true and that the BNP do well right across the country. Its my first time voting for them but I'm Scottish and have two votes for them this time.
I dont know what else we can do the rest are so focussed on keeping this horrible PC status quo where we are second for everything in our own country.
Allison C, Glasgow, UK
My view is simply this:
What have our government and the Eu got against white people? If anything at all ,then they are the ones who are racist.
Racism is simply the differentiation of one race against another and the pride in ones own race. When one calls a black person black or a white person white and judges them upon that case then they are being racist. What is wrong with being racist anyway one might add?Well what is wrong with it is that it is being called wrong at all.Who are those that judge Tthe so called racist people? They are frequently those that are biased anyway and often side with the establishment because they get better thought of in Pc terms, have vested interests in and also get better perks. It all smacks of corruption to me and on a massive scale.
To deny anyone to be a racist is to deny the freedom to be a racist. When one does that you have become a dictator and are as extreme as any in HIstory.I'm voting BNP!
roger perry, WORCESTER, ENGLAND
Why do the communist UAF never protest against union leaders who worship Josef Stalin, the man who had 30 million of his own people killed?
Trev, stockton,
Why does the Times say ASLEFlost their ECHR case when other sources say the won it? Personnel Today magazine, for example, directly contradicts this part of the story.
http://www.personneltoday.com/Articles/2007/03/21/39800/european-court-upholds-aslef-unions-right-to-ban-bnp-from-membership.html
James, Aberdeen,
Beware the leftwing fascists are complaining: the article wasn't anti-BNP enough. For years the state and new labour linked Searchlight has governed what has been written about the BNP in the media, even in rightwing papers which is why all newspapers carry identikit denunciations of the BNP. Now apparently they're indignant because starting with the Guardian feature on the BNP it inflitrated in london, that found no evidence of blatant racism- the media hasn't been working with the anti-democratic searchlight quite as it expects. It's members are now being encouraged to flood the Times with complaints.Searchlight beleives articles on the BNP should not be accurate but only to portray it as illegitimate, which is hardly surprising as searchlight worked in the past with violent Irish republican and anarchist groups to provide them with intelligence on patriots meetings, canvassing etc so leftwing thugs would physically attack.them.
david whittaker, eastbourne, England
The BNP are growing by the day due to their honest and refreshing approach as well as the ignorance, dishonesty and inefficiency of the 3 main parties. A revolution is coming, people are starting to realise that the indigious white people of this country have been second class citizens for far to long and the BNP are standing up to this and with huge support. I am a paid up member since 2003 and look forward to the snow ball gathering speed.
Ben, London,
i too am a BNP member, thank god after all these years of uncontrolled immigration and multi-colonialisation of this country the british people are finally standing up to be counted. How the labour, liberal, Cons and their propaganda chiefs in charge of the media and the BBC and Searchlight wish they could stifle the party. God help all the candidates for the BNP. It might be that there's still just time to rescue this country.
david whittaker, eastbourne, England
As the ethnic minority in my street, (I am British) I have joined the BNP as have all my family and will all be voting and looking for a landslide victory for the BNP! When terrorists are pandered to, given huge benefit payments, big houses, cars, mobile phones, and a mosque, why would they want to leave. It time we had a proper government who will look after the British first and foremost. The NHS is in ruins, taxation is grossly out of hand, the Gas / Electricity need to be nationalised again and the immigration stopped unless a person is in critical need in the Great Britain.
Daimon, Eastbourne, UK
The Lib, Lab, Con have pandered to the immigrants for years and when a party comes forward that represents us we are told "they are nasty don't vote for them". I hear the UAF shout "six million, never again", well what about the 120 million killed in the name of communisim or don't they count?
Facisim, who was the first people Hitler put in the camps? his political opponents, denying them a voice and no political voice. Sound familiar? UAF/Labour.
The uaf call the BNP Nazis but what they don't tell you is the BNP have a female Jewish councillor. I'm in a mixed race marriage and a BNP candidate. They tell you we are anti gay but here in Liverpool we hold some of our meetings in a gay bar. The BNP vote is rising because people are seeing through the UAF lies as we get out and meet people.
Tony, Liverpool, England
The question I would like to pose to Labour/Conservative
members is. Will all those who laughed at Enoch Powell
please stand up and explain the state of affairs we are
landed with now.
There is no way out of the problem given that both major
parties are destined to continue with immigration without
regard to any mandate from the electrate.
It is now apparent only a complete reversal of the voting public in favour of BNPwill confiscate this lot to the scrapheap. We would have to guard however that they do
not reappear as bnp politicians in disguise.
K R Sydenham, Ilkeston, England
I'll be voting BNP and rejecting the advice of Searchlight, the unions and the Daily Mirror. I am particularly disgusted with the unions as they are supposed to help protect British jobs, not go running off to Poland to sign up new members.
Mark, Blackburn, Lancashire
ill be voting bnp that god there able to reach all parts of the uk get rid of the communist clones that are the labour party
jon, hants, england
mr london have you seen the new school history lessons introduced by this gov today 2 april 2007 no holocast no world wars one and two only the slave trade and oppression my kids will not grow up with this idioligy my father died for this country i never forget that
jon, hants, england
times are changing, and the BNP are winning...I am not a BNP member, but can see why people are joining...my vote will certainly be going to the BNP in May, simply because there are no other parties worth voting for...all the top issues...crime, islamic extremism, Britains being put second to immigrants and ethnic groups simply because Blair if frightened to stand up to them, for fear of being called racist...the BNP offer the solution, and if anyone has a better way, please let me know, because i can't see anyone other than Nick Griffin doing a damn thing about what effects the population most..i live in Lincoln, where streets and shops are as good as no go areas for whites and British Natives, because the immigrants have taken over..crimes have tripled, especially attacks by immigrants on citizens of this country..if the only argument by the UAF and other anti BNP groups is the reference to members past petty crimes, then the BNP will surely win the top seat here in the UK Go Nick
andrew gatward, Lincoln, Great Britain
The British people have every right to have their voices heard which over the past few years as not been the case.
We have a democratic right to place our vote wherever we wish otherwise this is not a democracy.
I vist the bnp website every few days to find out the news that the mainstream media under Eu orders tend to cover up.
I have read their manifesto this appeals to me greatly, i like many others are sick to the soul of cultural marxism that has taken hold of this country, am sick of our culture being dumbed down, i'm sick of being ordered around by a bunch of self serving politician that think they have a God given right to rule over us, my vote for the bnp will just remind them that they have not!
How refreshing that you are not toeing the government nor the eu line. Thank You!
veronica., Doncaster, ENGLAND
I recently left the union I was a member of for 8 years because it became obvious they no longer cared for the working classes they claimed to represent. Instead our membership dues seemed to go to feather the hierarchy's substantial beds and to support orginisations like UAF.
I chose to give my £2.70 a week to charity so now The Dogs Trust, The WWF and McMillan Nurses get my money, not these out-of-touch so-called socialists!
Wayne, Salford,
I will be campaigning pro BNP. Multiculturalism is failing, the current government has addmitted it.
VOTE BNP
Marilyn, London,
The BNP is on a track to victory - although this will take time to achieve. I recently joined the BNP I have discovered that almost all supporters, like me, are not racist but fear the Islamification of our Country. We are looking for a return to the Country our forefathers left to us and which is now under great threat from both Labour and Conservative PC policies. I travel frequently to Islamic countries and have to abide always by their rules and laws. Why should we not demand the same of people arriving in this country. Diversification is OK. The overthrow of our traditions, beliefs and religion to be replaced by foreign ideals is not.
Vote for a change - vote BNP. Thanks to the Times for providing this platform for ordinary people to be able to express their views.
Dr D P F, Coleorton, UK
I'll definteily be voting for the BNP in Londons mayoral elections. Its a shame they arent standing where I live in Colindale North London.
I have seen my neighbourhood change very much for the worse. Its dreadful what is happening.
For those of you are are not yet effected dont be complacent as what has happened here will happen elsewhere.
oli, London,
They say why do people vote BNP I think the answer is why dont they?
SIMON, ESSEX,
I will be voting BNP, multiculturalism will destroy Britain.
Ell, London,
I'm 100% going to vote BNP this country has gone down the pan.
kate, Essex,
Living in Keighley we are constantly told that the BNP are of no threat to politicals or democracy. Labour MP Ann Cryer tells us this by the way, I think she has to keep reasuring herself. If this really was the case, then why hire outside help from other newspapers, unions and various other groups who belong to the civil servant brigade to campaign heavily in the town each year? I realise that these people are in cosy positions so they have to do as they are told, but it does make me laugh so much.
Keighley BNP is run by decent local people who care about issues surrounding the town, if that is racist then we are all in deep trouble.
chris, keighley,
The decent hard working population are finaly realising the other partys are only greed motivated they are well past their sale by date there is only one party that will stop this country from self destructing and that is the great british national party.

jdboss, newport, uk
I was a Labour Party member for nearly fifteen years until quite recently. Disgusted by the changes that Tony Blair has made to the party (which is now a party for big business, the rich and powerful) I left to join the BNP. Many others like me have done the same. I consider the BNP to be the only real socialist party in the U.K.
Caroline Ashley, Leeds, West Yorkshire.
Praise God for 'sensible' journalists. At least the Times has shown here that it is interested in reporting 'News' and not 'Propaganda'.
Most of Britains decent men & women, when looking into the policy's of the BNP, find that they fall right in line with how they think and feel. We are a 'common sense' party for 'common sense' people.
If you have a BNP candidate standing in your area, make sure you get out and vote for them on 3rd May, make a real political change in your area.
BNP councillors pledge to expose the council for any under handed projects and be an all seeing eye for local voters to ensure that their funding is being spent wher it will benefit the whole community.
Richard Foster, Lincoln, UK
Anyone reading the "soundbite" quotes and policies publicised by the BNP could be forgiven for agreeing with the statements made. We all know that immigration is a problem for instance, however the method of curing this problem is through responsible reform and information sharing not by the destruction of the multi racial country which we have at present.
The BNP show very little honesty when dealing with the press and are keen to hide the roots of an organisation which has been at the centre of racist and homophobic violence within this country in recent years.
I would appeal to people who see items of interest in the policies which they see relating to the BNP to delve deeper into the history, ethics and beliefs of the group and I hope they will then see a very different prospect for this country.
Helen, Telford, UK
I think its great that people are finally starting to wake up and smell the coffee , i will certainly be voting for the bnp in may as will nearly everyone that ive spoke to around my area , and i do mean everyone! .
I ,like many other normal ,, NOT RACIST , NOT FACIST , decent working class people are sick to the back teeth of been called racists for having everyday opinions ,im just so happy that the times has given everyone a chance to express what they really feel and i hope that all the other papers will follow suit in the near future.
And to all you do - gooders out there that think that the bnp is just a phase i say this :-
stay up late on may 3rd and watch the results fly in , i thnk there could be a few suprises !
GOOD LUCK NICK , LETS TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK !!!

Have people forgotten that BNP politics leads to David Copeland, scapegoating, hatred, nail-bombs and the deaths of innocent people. The BNP is a fascist party. They are apologists for the Nazis, holocaust deniers and are committed to the destruction of democracy through the avenue of racism. Wherever we can we must oppose the BNP and the conditions which give rise to them. Workers have faced a barrage of attacks from a Labour government which millions saw as an alternative to the Tories. We desperately need a political alternative which defends us - all of us, black, white, man, woman, gay and straight. That's why I support Respect. Respect offers an electoral alternative to the neo liberal policies of the main parties that lead to war and constant attacks on our jobs, our services and our communities. Respect is against racism and fascism and for a massive expansion in council house building, funding of public services and trade union rights. This is what we need to stop the nazis.
neale , london, uk
Are you guys nuts???
This article fails to expose the fascist nature of the British National Party, referring to it only as an "anti-immigration party". The BNP is a fascist party that has Nazi sympathies, denies the Holocaust and calls for an all-white Britain. None of this was exposed in the article.
The article is riddled with inaccurate and false information: it claims that ASLEF the rail union recently lost a court case for the right to expel BNP members in the European Court on Human Rights, when the European Court actually ruled in its favour.
MR, london, london
Yes I will vote BNP as well, I've been interested in the party for a long time now and I believe there the only ones who are prepared to stand up and tell the truth.
James, buckie,
I immigrated to this country, giving up my old lifestyle in Australia. I was not happy being an Australian and did not like living in Australia. Having Dual British/Australian citizenship I took advantage of the one I loved the most...British. Now I gave it all up to live like a pommie...now I want to be able to live like one. Labour, the Tories and Lib-Dem refuse me this...The BNP welcomed me with open arms. Having a ponytail I don't like being called a skinhead and being new to this country I resent being called a racist for trying to be patriotic.
BNP don't need to steal my vote like the big 3 try...I happilly offer my vote to the BNP and pay for the privelidge if it will save this once Great Britain!
Glenn, Poole, Great Britain
I am proud to a member of Solidarity, a union that cares only about the future and security of British working people, regardless of their politics or their ethnic origin. As a journalist in the 70's, I swore I would never join another union after being dragged into the disgraceful, vicious, undemocratic activities of the Marxist unions, but at last, there is Solidarity, a genuine union that doesn't use its members' subscriptions for politcally-motivated witch hunts and social engineering at the same time as selling those same members out to fat-cat global corporations who want only ever-cheaper labour and ever-bigger profits. The likes of Aslef, Amicus and Unison et al are tools of these corporations and are thus the enemies of British workers.
Heather, West Yorkshire
H Watson, Morley, England
I vote for and support the BNP. I am not a thug, a racist or the stereotypical image of a Nazi that the left, UAF and media portray us to be.
If being Racist means I want safe streets for my children and wife, then I am ahppy to be called a racist.
If being Odious means that I want sensible border controls and national security, then I am odious.
If being a Fascist means wanting police to NIck criminals, judges to lock them up and honest politicians, then I am proud to be a fascist.
If being nasty means not wanting my children sexualised and politicised at 4, not wanting high taxes, wanting quality council services, then I wear the nasty badge with pride.
Yes, I will vote BNP and so will my family, lots of my friends and by the grace of god Nick Griffin will one day bring order and peace to this once beautiful land.
This man stood up for you, me and his values twice against the onslaught of the Labour regime and won. That is courage and fortitude and I salute him.
Stephen Soos, Leicester,
The BNP certainly don't have to 'get their supporters to e mail in' we do it freely while freedom of speech is still allowed! The BNP will be getting my vote! good luck Nick.
Bee Scott, Norwich, Britain!
There's an old saying that variety is the spice of life. A leftie would say that multiculturalism is just that, lots of people lot's of fun!!. But when all European countries become one big melting pot of cultures and we've lost all sense of identity, when our heritage is nothing more than embarrassing history and being "British" says nothing more than where you were born....where's the spice ???
That's why the BNP is winning votes, that's why they'll have mine.
Jen, Keighley,
Here in Australia I drive a cab in Brisbane. British visitors say how nice it is to come to a city not swamped with foreign races. All credit to the BNP for their fight against the daft british immigration sysytem. They do a great job. If I lived in the U.K. I would be a BNP activist.
john drew, brisbane, australia
The BNP is like a great big snowball rolling down hill getting larger and faster, and the other partys are powerless to stop it , read their manifesto, check out their web site join the only party that wants to put Brittain and its people first.
petermarshall, Barnsley, Yorkshire
That is interesting a new Union for those who don`t like the way existing unions are run. I think I will have to look into that. If it promises to look after British workers and British jobs that to my mind would be a good start. But it would be equally good to be a member of a Union that simply stood up for your rights as opposed to one that felt inclined to tell you how to think.
Solidarity, sounds good. Thanks.
Didn`t ASLEF win the case last week.?
Kevin, Huddersfield,
The article makes it clear that Solidarity is not a 'front' for the BNP. From the start the group of which I am a member - the Third Way has supported it. We have many policy differences with the BNP and have stood against them in elections. We are fed-up, however, with the anti-democratic witch-hunting being conducted by some in the Union movement. We are fed-up with the lack of any real representation by these people and the corruption and cronyism that seems all-pervasive in their bureaucracies. 'Socialists' paying themselves inflated wages on the backs of their members contributions! They have failed to speak out on mass migration undercutting our wages and off-shoring destroying our jobs.
Third Way believes we are all in the same boat (black, white, Muslim, Christian etc.) and that it is sinking! Thank God that Solidarity has been formed to fight for us all. God give them power to make a difference.
Jeannie Trueman, London, England
the rise of the BNP is not really that suprising, labour and the lib dems appeal to minorities and the tories increasingly to the rich and all to big business in the eyes of the british public.
immigration is dogmatically pushed as good for the economy - yes if you are the businessman and want to turn 9 pounds of profit into 10. but for the british workers of this country who seem to suffer and be ignored at an alarming amount of arrogance of the 3 mainpartiy supporting profiteers of this country. the bnp for the worker threatened by the immigration tidal wave is increasingly being seen as the representing voice of the working people.
people want to work and dont want to be on benefits, but if they are displaced by immigration in their jobs then they have no choice, with the decline of manufacturing within the british economy only the rich seem to benefit, the bnp seems to be the working class white peoples party - this is why people increasingly turn to them.
alex, stoke, staffs
I never would have voted for the BNP in a million years.
Then I saw that they were protesting against the closing down of my local police station.
Now I am seriously wavering towards giving them my vote,
I am a long time Conservative but these days that once proud party just seems a sad joke.
James, Bath, U.K
God save Nick (the prophet) Griffin
John, Birmingham, Englanistan
I'm a white British lady who's worked abroad in North Africa and the Middle East for the last 20 years or so, and have unfortunately seen the decline of our beloved England under New Labour. Blair has helped to destroy the country and it's once prosperous industries. It's like he wants to make England a service country. Now he wants to price us out of a home so that we'll emigrate somewhere else and give him less bother. Well, it's time to fight back and I shall do that on polling day. Good luck to the BNP - they will have my vote.
Rosalind Gauci, Manchester, United Kingdom
I greatly admire and respect the BNP, and agree with their policy proposals. While I am of British Isles descent, I don't live in the UK, but if I did, I'd be certain to vote for the BNP at every opportunity. I wish we had an ANP to support in American elections, as opposed to the Politically Correct dictators of the Democratic Party, and the blood-drenched, warmongering neo-"conservative" fanatics of the Republican Party.
Kevin Riley O'Keeffe, San Jose, California, USA
Real concerns and issues that affect us all have been ignored for far too long, Are we really interested in "green" issues when the house is falling down around us ?
Top priorities are now crime, the NHS, public services, housing, overcrowding, falling wages and higher taxes.
Mass immigration into a country with four times less space per person than France is a obviously a contributory factor.
Even the BNP admit limited immigration can benefit the economy, it is the politicians who should be held accountable not the new arrivals.
Discussing the BNP a few years ago would have been unthinkable let alone vote for them, but i now fear we have a situation developing where there is little alternative if we are to salvage our identity and heritage for our future generations.
Quite remarkably I have yet to see a BNP representative on BBC's question time, so hat's off to the Times for an even handed approach and a much welcomed breath of fresh air and common sense.
Steve Michael, Kent,
I am a fully paid up member of the BNP and proud of it. Those of you who have doubts about the intentions of the party should read their manifesto, when you have, check out those of the other party's and you will see that far from shouting down the policies of the BNP they are in fact adopting them themselves, albeit in a watered down form.Something that has only occurred recently, with the meteoric increase in both interest and membership of the BNP. When you have finished reading perhaps you should ask yourself a few questions....Q.Do I want to be ruled by unelected E. U. politicians? Q.Do I want to be able to walk in my own area in peace and also not be in fear for my property or person? Q.Do I trust those who govern now? Q.Will this government and future ones protect this country for future generations of MY family and its descendants?and there are many others. This country needs the protection of a strong party, use your vote wisely, help the BNP to protect Great Britain.
Chris, Leicester, U.K.
Democracy is directly under attack through the EU.All three main parties voted for unlimited migration from East Europe. We must fight for democracy whilst we still have the chance. If the BNP rob Labour of its traditional voters it is because of the PC policies of a scurrilous government. The mass migration into this country artificially keeps the economy going, but socially cripples us.I'm not a member of the BNP for all those doubting Thomas',but I am British.I fully understand the reasons for voting for them and wish tham every success
diane, st leonards, e.sussex
I am the General Secretary of Solidarity. We are an independent Union. We accept members from all political backgrounds and none. We reject political vetting and the new McCarthyism of some other Unions.
We are gaining support because we recognise that all workers in this country are being squeezed by jobs leaving (off-shoring) and cheap non-unionised migrant labour coming in. Workers of all ethnic and faith backgrounds are adversely affected by this. It is because the established Unions are failing to represent the interests of their members that we are gaining recruits.
Patrick Harrington, Edinburgh, Scotland
Blimey !! I see the BNP has been busy getting its supporters to e-mail in !
Of COURSE they seem reasonable NOW , but watch out if they ever got any REAL power.
Mary, Notts,
i have grown up to vote for the labour party as my parents were both strong labour supporters. My vote now stands with the BNP. Its about time that British people stand up and claim Britain back to the British people. I am not against other nationalities living in this country, as long as they live by British laws, at the moment the law seems to be in their favour. British people wake up and realise what is happening to our country!
Helen, Swansea, UK
Having been born and raised into a working class family,it was instilled into me to vote labour,as labour supported the working class people of this country.I voted for new labour ten years ago, what a huge mistake, they turned out to be far worse than a tory government, high taxation, high crime levels and immigration out of control. My family and I will now give our votes to the B.N.P. as we see no other alternative if the decay of this counry is to be halted.I also think that Nick Griffin is probably one of the few honest politicians left in this country,at least he says it as it is.
robert , Nottingham, England
Has the letter above letter implys we have had massive immigration for years , and been told we cant object to this .Laws have been brought in to stifle free speech. therfore the real fascists are the 3 main political parties. I for certain like many thousands will vote bnp , simply because nobody else wants to tackle the problem
wiliam smith , west bromwich, england
New Labour and to some extent the Tories have brought this all on themselves by selling out middle England. Successive Home Office ministers have allowed their department to be so unfit for purpose that half a million immigrants are in the country illegally, several hundred foreign prisoners are on the loose and the whole crime scene is a sick joke where the only ones getting arrested are law abiding citizens. No promise made by Blair and his cadre of misfits have been kept and under Brown we are the highest taxed country in Europe. The only parties that for better or worse are saying the things we want to hear are the BNP & UKIP parties. Hitler gained power in Germany because the other parties ignored the plight of most Germans and a similar change of power could easily happen in Britain due to Blair's destruction of all the public services that we need. The current mainstream parties have a limited time scale to sort their mess out otherwise they'll be out on their ears.

Is it true: We pay 1.3 Million Pounds a minute to the EU?
AlAN , Wednesbury, West Midlands
No: the British National Party is certainly no racist party. If it were I would never have joined it in the first place last year on 14th May 2006, the anniversary of the foundation of the Jewish state of Israel. The British also have a right to exist as a people, or ethnie, in their own national and historical homeland. They are not denying that right to any other people; indeed they would encourage other nations to recognise this right for the historic British people. If racial equality is to be applied, as a value, then it must apply to ethnically British people in their own country. That is not racism, anymore than the existence of Pakistan or Israel is down to racism. But certainly both sides of this debate should be able to interact with one another using reason, rather than inaccurate and ungracious name-calling.
Revd RMB West, Holbeach, England
Democracy is the solution to these problems, the lack of it has caused them. The polical parties are responsible for ignoring the will of the people and subverting our political process.
When we do finally get a government which reflects the will of the people, the first thing it must do is make the BBC stand on its own commercial feet. At least then the largest media company in the country will need to fall in with the sentiments of its audience rather than its political masters. It's manipulation of public opinion is outrageous.
john, Oldham,
I will never (under my own free will) vote for the BNP or any similar outfit but what I find of greatest concern is the apparent ease that politicians of all three parties abdicate their responsibility and refuse to share a platform with what is after all a perfectly legal and as it seems rapidly growing party.
This is supposed to be a democracy and as much as I loathe the thinly concealed racism of the BNP I see no reason why that party's spokespersons should be denied a public platform. Their odious policies regarding for example ethnic, religious and sexual minorities can and should be exposed by the eloquent and learned representatives of the established and more experienced parties.
That The Times is happy to allow those who appear to be BNP supporters to air their views on this website confirms my faith in the paper of record to cover a story from every responsible angle. If only every other newspaper was as responsible we might have that democracy after all!
Stuart Baxter, Ipswich, Suffolk
i completely agree with the BNP and its policies. I fear the way our beloved country is changing and how the true british people are becoming a minoriorty in their own country. Somebody needs to be brave enough to step in and stop this. The BNP are the only party brave enough to do this. Its not that i am racist, its that i care deeply for the british people and their culture and i want it to continue for my children, my grandchildren and so on. British people should take a stand and hang on to what we have got left, before there is nothing left. I am british and proud!
I think the BNP is the only party who really do see the bigger picture and exactly what is happening to our beloved country. They have my full support.
Diane, Kent, England
The truth about the BNP.
Question:- Why don't you let blacks and Asians into the BNP?
For the same reason the Girl Guides don't allow boys to join. Does that mean they are sexist? Does it mean they hate boys? Of course not, it's just that their aim is to cater for the interests of girls, and similarly the BNP isn't racist, but our purpose is to cater for the interests of the indigenous British population. The indigenous population of Britain is now the only group which is facing systematic, legalised and institutionalised discrimination, harassment and oppression. That's precisely why the British people need the BNP - because we are the one and only organisation that has their interests at heart. There are hundreds of organisations exclusively for blacks or Asians, but only one organisation for the indigenous population - the BNP.
L.. O. Nelson, Stoke, England
It's exciting to see that the party who have been so ruthlessly attacked by the decadent major political parties are headed for some record gains. No other party has held so firm to their principles and beliefs, and, in the current political climate whereby the major parties have acted with nothing but disdain and contempt towards the British people and their great history, at last it is plain to see a beacon of light offering true democracy and a return of British culture and values.
I wish the BNP the greatest of luck!
The truth can never be silenced.
Chris, Aberdeen, Great Britain
I will support the bnp if you have a job or dont live next to a mosque listen to the media have your kids brainwashed in school then why not i will be support the bnp
jon, hants, england
I can't vote for the British Govt, Hero, I'm Dutch. And if I could, I'd vote Lib Dem. Strategic voting is for idiots.
My situation is very similar to that of the Canadian person below (don't know if you can still read that one, the comments have gone funny again). I'm alright because I'm white and I'm posh enough.
Starling, Lancaster,
I might start buying the Times if you keep writing even-handed reports.
Peter, Aberdeen, UK
Similar to MC, London, I too am an ethnic minority, British born and Muslim. I consider the British to be amongst the most tolerant, fair and warm hearted people in the world. However, increasingly, I am constantly surprised at the open hostility shown by large numbers of white people towards non-white immigrants and for this reason I too am looking to emigrate within the next 2 years.
Sam, London, UK
I've had the same "oh, YOU'RE alright" attitude flung at me too, David. I'm white and well-educated, so that's OK.
Starling, Lancaster,
I think the BNP should be allowed a level playing-field on which to pitch their case and they should be allowed to do that without the interference by UAF and Searchlight - the activities of which are surely legally dubious.
If the BNP win the seat then that is democracy in action. If they do not win the seat, then that, too, is democracy in action.
Democracy is not on any individual or organisation's terms and subject to their approval - either we have it or we do not.
Personally, I am quite happy to listen to what they have to say before making up my mind where my vote will go.
Michael Farr, Richmond, UK
It is very odd that Brendan Barber the General Secretary of the TUC is vehemently opposed to the British National Party. When you think that by restricting numbers to the UK , it must equate that wages would have to rise for working people as supply and demand dictates.
On this basis the BNP must be good news for British workers. As for Mr Barber and the rest of his pro-immigrant co-horts? I suggest redundancy.
Chris Roberts, Benfleet, Essex
The BNP is racist (oh, yes it is). It doesn't matter one jot if the rest of their policies may be/are OK; if you vote for a racist party, you're approving of the fact that they are racist. And if they ever do something horrible in the name of racism, they can say "don't complain, you voted for us."
Starling, Lancaster,
As an asian immigrant I am concerned about the increasing popularity of the BNP, but I do understand why it is happening as I happen to share some of the sentiments raised by the readers, i.e. perceived pandering to voiciferous minorities and percieved lack of support for the majority.
The problem for me is that the BNP exists solely for white people, it doesn't allow non-white membership and dosen't make a distinction between groups within the non-white ethnic minority population - i.e all white people good, all black and brown people bad. Hence technically it is a racist organisation whether or not the people who vote for it are, and it may well have other policies but the only one that really matters (I think) to the majority of its voters is the promise to repatriate non-white immigrants and make them second or third class citizens whilst that process is underway.
"Non-racists" voters may indeed be non-racists but voting for the BNP is support for a racist organisation.
Sonny, London,
come on the bnp we need the main parties to have some common sense when its comes to immigration theres to many people coming in from poor countries like poland, where the workforce is hardly skilled to the standards we had before. if theres job unfilled in this country then we shud force the unemployed to get a job and not let them stay at home while we allow foreigners to come in and effectively take our jobs
i have been to quite a few BNP meetings and there are normal working class people who care about this country
steve mc, liverpool, england
Starling, Lancaster......it is people like you who are responsible for the rise of the BNP. You voted for a party - or didn't vote at all, so that the end result is what we've got now.......people hacked-off by our current state of affairs. The public will gravitate towards these parties if the other main parties don't listen.
Hero, Preston,
Well said 'Sue of Manchester'.
Hero, Preston,
The reestablishment and recognition of the indigenous population of Britain that includes the many ethnic minorities (not just white Britain) who are a well established part of the UK needs to be fortified and upheld. The only reason there is any interest in the BNP at all is that excessive liberalism driven by historic guilt is simply not working and the sovereignty of our nation needs to upheld and respected. This is leaving many to feel socially and culturally displaced in their own communities. To be British is not to be white, however excessive economic migration to the UK without social and cultural migration to match result in dilution of what it is to be British.
Aftab Ahmed, London,
Judging from some of the comments here, people are quite simply frustrated and angry to the point that they are now happy to freely declare their support for BNP. If New Labour and the Tories want to blame someone, they should look in the mirror and take responsibility for their inaction and complacency towards current issues and concerns e.g. immigration
As a non-white person, supporting the BNP is out of the question but I can understand why so many are now attracted in their direction. People have a right to vote for whoever they like, thats what democracy is supposed be about. But dont be too surprised if you find out you've been conned by the BNP after they've got your vote. What may seem like the answer to your prayers could turn out to be your worst nightmare. History the world over tells us this. For this reason alone, I'm now looking to emigrate despite the fact that I'm British born and bred. A country dominated by the BNP would not be a place for me or my family.
MC, London, England
The increase in support for the BNP is a very scary thought for the future of the country. I am a white Canadian living in london and training to be a barrister. I have had the opportunity to talk with several BNP supporters who have had absolutely no issue with me. They have declared their disgust with immigrants coming to the country to steal their jobs and bring down property values amongst other criticisms of modern Britain. Yet despite all these issues with 'immigrants' they have supported me in my endeavours. This is the ignorance and the hypocracy that i have found prevalent amongst the BNP and its supporters. I am a Canadian immigrant training to 'steal' one of the more prestigous jobs in the country but because of my education, wealth and colour it is acceptable. I hope Britain opens its eyes to the neo-facism that is spreading in Europe and votes to end its growth.
David Robertson, London,
Im an ex-police officer and get fed up with being portrayed as a knuckle-dragging skinhead just because I dont believe in uncontrolled immigration, housing increasing by £140 a day and lack of law and order (yes the BNP STANDS FOR A LOT MORE THAN ANTI-IMMIGRATION if you read the manifesto)-well done for being fair with this article-I believe the BNP IS THE new Conservative Party since the old one has lost its way,I think Papers and the media should know the strength of support out there and every time it insults the BNP it insults a growing number of normal working-class people of all ages,my father has just joined and hes 73!
steve, Coventry, west midlands
Yes, let the BNP win. Get all the foreigners out and leave the EU. Then you'll have an island full of miserable Brits who will realise that life is just as bad without all the foreigners and that they've got to take responsibility for their own actions after all. Darn.
Starling, Lancaster,
Just a word of thanks to the Times.Credit where credits due as you have published a fair article concerning BNP.The tone is still negative and suggests there is something to fear(as if we have nothing or less to fear from Nu Labour, the Not the Conservatives and the Lib Dims). However, you at least do not fall into the usual media reaction of labeling BNP voters as Nazi`s,Facist, extreme right and so on.So credit to you on that score.Hope you can be evenmore even-handed in future.
Patrick, Nottingham, England
The left wing/old parties are shaking in their boots just now. They opened Pandora's box when they introduced multiculturalism and large scale immigration. Things have gone from bad to worse: huge rise in crime, NHS bursting at its seams, jobs taken over by foreign workers, etc. This isn't about racism, it's about feeling comfortable in your own country, feeling comfortable with your own culture. Vote BNP and bring back a sense of belonging.
Sue, Manchester, England
Your observation that electoral participation goes up when the BNP are standing is contrary to the 'spin' from the Labour party and their Marxist collaborators at Searchlies. The BNP must therefore be good for democracy.
ady, yorkshire, england
My family will be voting and supporting the BNP. They have very sensible policies that very few could disagree with.
The old Labour / Conservative thing is just out of date now. They await the same fate as the dinosaurs.
Roderick Gordon, London, England
"Election participation goes up when the BNP are standing". The BNP are obviously good fror democracy and indicates that the 'establishment three' do not fulfill voters requirements.
ady, yorkshire, england
Here is a little test for all the readers of this article and the comments so far. Study the web sites of all the parties. Then ask yourselves a question that demands a true and honest answer. That question is,"Which Party do YOU think most closely reflects what YOU think?" You've got to be honest, how, no preconceptions allowed.
Having done this, I suggest that The British National Party may be the answer to most thinking people. Try it.
Peter Mullins, Liskeard, Cornwall
People are fighting back - our country has been stolen from us - if we voice an opinion then we're labelled racists etc!!! I am not afraid to vote BNP I've done so before and I will do so again - I won't be bullied or intimidated or made to feel ashamed for doing so either.
Labour has pushed and insulted the natives of this land too far for too long...what goes around comes around and there are many who will not be pushed around any longer - I for one!!!
Sharon, Croydon, England
The BNP deserves to double its number of councillors. It is the only party that dares to say that the Multicultural Emperor has no clothes.
If you're anti-immigration, who else can you vote for?
rhory fraser, London,
I can only hope, that on this occasion, the pollsters are right!!
Ian, Long Itchington,
I'm sure if they were standing in my area i'd give it serious consideration as no one is listening to the electorate, they are going their own sweet way further and further into the EU which the majority of us don't want. We never elected to give our country away and to be governed by unelected (by us) foreigners, Hitler tried it and lost, what makes them think we'd change our minds 60 years on? Immigration is way out of control and is costing us dearly, the indigenous come last in the pecking order and we paid for it all over the years. Then there's the ID/passport fiasco we do not want, as for threatening us with the removal of our passports if we don't have one, just who do they think they are?
The people have had enough of being pushed around, by Blairs bullies so politicians should do the job they were elected to do - serve the people, not the other way around.
No government can't be this inept, which leads me to believe the whole thing is deliberat

The old political trio of parties have only themselves to blame if they are afraid of the BNP. Through their own lack of democracy in taking people for granted and Labour in particular reverting to the big spending party, they have forced people to take a fresh look at viable alternatives. I predict a major swing away from the old political parties.
Thomas, Durham,
Until we have a Conservative Party worthy of the name, more and more people who hate what Labour have done to this country will be drawn to the BNP.
David, Newport, UK
Good to see some democracy returning to the U.K.
I would never personally vote for the BNP as I disagree with them on most things, But I can certainly relate to those people who do agree changing their vote from Labour.
The Left wing thugs who try to attack BNP members however, just make me sick.
The fact that they get away with the facade of being supporters of democracy merely shows how far downhill the nations media has gone.
Jeremy, North London, U.K
The people will vote whatever they feel fit, after all we are a supposed democracy. The digusting attitude of other establishments show them up for what they are, they call the BNP Nazis etc...but act like it themselves,if not far worse. The elections will prove that the so called main stream groups have lost touch with the majority of the population and will lose massively to the BNP and will only have themselves to blame.I hope Labour get a bloody nose, they deserve it,they are the real Fascists, along with all the other leftwing thugs.
M.King, Plymouth,
If Jon Cruddas is under the impression that voters are only
concerned about the lack of social housing it proves that he
is completely out of touch with public opinion and the BNP
have nothing to fear. Roll on May 3rd.
Barry, Bournemouth,
We apparently live in a democracy therefore people can vote the way they wish. Unions are supposed to represent working people of all walks of life. So shame on Aslef, they show that they are just yet another leftist thought police group to add to the many this country has already!
matt, london,
I'm not sure if Crispin of London is serious or a satirist after reading his contribution in these columns. He asks, "Where is the down side to immigration, there is not a fixed number for jobs." Unfortunately, Crispin, there is a fixed number of acres in this once rural and harmonious country. God, or whoever it was, designed these island s of ours for a population of, ideally, 30 to 40 million (fewer would be better. We now have over 60,000,000 and the number is growing relentlessly. Crispin also says that we need lots of immigrants to work for a third world wage in order that we may compete with the sweat shops of the Far East. Great!! Millions of we, poor ,native Brits out of work and starving!
No, I now am convinced that Crispin is a rather wickedly satirical agent of the B.N.P. Well done. Had me fooled for a while there.
Peter Mullins, Liskeard, Cornwall
It is clear that when there is only one party that truly listens to the concerns of the British, regarding rampant immigration & other homeland issues, that party will make gains in elections. It is heartening to learn that there is still hope for the British!! (Crispin -your facts regarding USA/Mexican immigration are incredibly wrong!)
M.L., Florida, USA
As a serving army officer of 17 years service, I can safely say I will be voting BNP from now on. The same goes for my retired parents, my wife, and my two daughters both of whom are currently studying at Oxford. This country is being sold down the river by treacherous PC cowards and only Mr.Griffin and his party offer any hope for future generations.
Richard, Aldershot, England
Whats wrong with you people?
Minorities account for less then ten % of the population.
This is purely and simply- jealously.
bob, Bob, UK
The BNP are extremely unpleasant people indeed and completely loathsome but I expect I would probably hold my nose and vote for them asa protest were I to vote in local elections. Immigration has to be ended forthwith. It's the biggest problem facing Europe
Paul Wood, bucharest, romania
lets take OUR country back.
vote bnp
daz, romford, essex
I don't understand the problem with immigration. Where is the down side?
There are not a fixed number of jobs, new people create jobs and the economy grows.
British labour costs are so high that they are not sustainable and the economy is under major threat from Asia and the developing world.
We need immigrants to work for lower pay, grow the economy and help Britain to remain a major world power.
Look at the benefit it had in America and the massive growth brought about by Mexican immigration.
What are the BNP and their supporters afraid of? In any event, I don't mind, they can not win as globalisation will only speed up. Lucky for us economics will always win.
Crispin, London, England
The BNP are broadening their support base by hard work and by standing candidates in democratic elections. They get their vote out because supporters make that happen. They believe in the cause and rally around the bravery and determination of their leadership. Nick Griffin we salute you! Eat your hearts out Messrs Cameron and Cruddas! The day of reckoning is nigh. Don't cosy up to Searchlight chaps, the outing of them is long overdue!
Christopher, Norwich,
Contrary to your report, Aslef won its case in the European Court of Human Rights, as The Times law reports reported correctly, though with a misleading headline. The court decided that the right to freedom of association does not force unions to accept into membership people opposed to the basic principles of trade unionism. The TUC and several trade unions have welcomed this decision.
Sonia, Ilford, Essex
The BNP will make gain's because the other parties are refusing to listen to the British public
John, Salford, England
theres still hope for the British people if the BNP are winning, thank god.
chris, cov, warwickshire
Excellent news, any gain the BNP makes is a step in the right direction..Each year they seem to gain more support off the back of the bunglings Labour have made.
dazinta, Berkshire, UK
I really hope the BNP make gains this May.
Kate, Essex,
Excellent at last a party that will put me FIRST. The Lib/Lab/Con parties dont care about me because im a white Briton. Im voting BNP.
T.Dixon, Calderdale, England
Recently, whilst awaiting a connection at Stansted Airport I was approached by an Asian who took my hand and shook it vigorously saying " hello friend". So as not to be rude, but more importantly, not to be referered to the race relations mob, I said hello and attempted to remove my hand. This was not possibe without the use of excessive force and when requested the assailant, because this is what this person had now become, refused to do so. I gave him several opportunities to do so but he refused. I shouted for Security staff and instructed the service attendant to contact security. The person let go. Had it been a white person I would have used force. Had I used force in this case I would have finished up in gaol.
That is why we need the BRITISH NATIONAL PARTY.
Someone has to speak up for the man in the street. The socialists, the Tories and the Libdems most certainly will not.
Given the freedom to do so the majority of indigenous UK citizens would welcome a curb on immigration
william mccarthy, AYR, Ayrshire
When I look at the BNP policies on their site. Not a single one discriminates against people because of their race yet they are still branded racist!?
The BNP is the only party with any common sense.
They've got my vote!
Dave, Bexley, UK
I and the majority of my family will be voting for the BNP.
Personally I do not have anything against people who are of a different colour, but I am absolutely sick of the other PC parties who are trying to strip this country of its Identity.
Something must give or this country will be heading towards civil war inside the next twenty years.
Vote BNP for Freedom,Security, Identity and Democracy.
BNP,BNP,BNP,BNP,BNP,BNP,BNP,BNP,BNP,BNP,BNP,BNP,BNP,BNP
Sorry to repeat myself fourteen times but the number fourteen is the number of family members that will be voting for the BNP.
karl, st.helens,
You can hardly tell the difference between the main Westmister parties these days. The BNP will win votes because they will stand up against ubiqitous anti-white positive discrimination (adopted by the Tories under Cameron) and stop immigration. Then perhaps young Brits will stand a chance of getting a home or finding a place for their children in a school that isn't being overburdened by eastern european immigrants. People will want their say on the last 10 years of neo Marxism, globalisation and incompetence.
Vic, London, England
All the main parties support mass immigration and welcome the growth of Islam in Britain. Many people (in fact, probably the great majority) are against these things. How can people register their opposition at the ballot box, other than by voting for the BNP?
Ian, London,
If you actually read the Law Report in your Paper, ( 09/03/07), and not the head line, you will note that ASLEF in fact won their case to expel the BNP member and were awarded costs.
Tom Mahoney, Rugby, UK
My whole household will be voting for the BNP. We all have freinds of mixed race but with things the way they are and the way they are going and with all this PC crap it's time for a radical change.
Phil, Leicester,
Things must be looking up for the BNP, I do not see the words: odius, racist, knuckledraggers, shaven-headed thugs or sub-human in the article. This must be first.
Alan , Lincoln,
If the 'old gang parties' refuse to listen to the concerns of the people they claim to represent - then they deserve to be punished at the polls. That's why my vote is going to the BNP.
Owen, Swansea, UK
There is much waffle and hysteria about the British National Party, generated mainly by the Labour Party's paid 'Searchlight' confederates and their supporters at the BBC.
Cutting through to reality is so simple really. Visit the BNP's website for one thing, then talk to people to see if they agree with the BNP's manifesto and general stance. Consider how you yourself feel about it all and compare with what the other parties are saying. Have a think about it and decide whether you want to vote for the BNP or not.
That's what I did, and having weighed things up I have decided to vote for the BNP from now on. That's my informed, democratic choice, and there are those out there who don't like me making an informed democratic choice, which ought to be the starting point for anyone visiting the BNP website.
Angharad, Preston, Lancs, England
Although not a member of the BNP, I to will be voting for them and if allowed helping them campaign in Wales.
Paul Morris, Blaina, South Wales
It is impossible to ignore around any city in the UK the degree of change wrought upon our population. Therefore the media created taboos are finally breaking down. Birthrates mean even now it is possibly too late to make any difference...
Ben, London, UK
I will be voting for the BNP at every opportunity.
This country is heading towards total destruction and I believe BNP are the only party prepared to make a stand.
Pete, Swindon,
