The boss of Britain’s new equality and human rights watchdog has called for a two-track immigration system, forcing some economic migrants to make a bigger contribution to the cost of public services.
Trevor Phillips, who launches the Commission for Equality and Human Rights this week, said some new migrants should be required to pay extra for public services such as health, education and welfare.
His intervention follows a warning by Julie Spence, chief constable of Cambridgeshire police, that a sudden influx of migrant workers has left her force struggling to deal with certain offences, including knife crime and drink-driving.
Phillips said the current immigration system was not equipped to deal with “shuttle migrants” – people who “virtually commute from Warsaw or Slovenia”.
He said: “It’s not that we don’t want them to come here. But they put a stress on the infrastructure.
“You might say that people who are basically here for work . . . they and their employers might have to make a contribution, for social insurance for example.”
Migrants from Poland and other eastern European countries that joined the European Union in 2004 are entitled to child benefits, tax credits, housing benefit and accommodation after a year’s employment.

If immigration is needed by business why not levy a charge of a couple of grand per annum a head on employing non-natives. Add another couple of grand for non english speakers. At one stroke the argument would be proven one way or another and the BNP disarmed.

What about the burden british expats are placing on the French and Spanish health systems? The British are the 3rd largest immigrant group in Spain after the morrocans and Ecuadorians. At least the Ecuadorians and morrocans work, most of them are young unlike the Brits. A 30 year old puts less strain on the health system than a fat 70 year old. France has already had to change the requirements for health care. Spain hasnât yet. In places in Spain, no one speaks Spanish except for English and German even to work in those places, you have to speak those two languages. And not even talk about the rise in housing prices in Spain triggered by those nationalities looking for a place in the sun.
In a couple of years, the influx is going to be the other way as Brits and germans find their way to the Balkans and eastern europe.

I'm from the US, illegal aliens have caused massive problems that our government refuses to address. Public hospitals now no longer treat citizens who depend on medicare, the federal insurance citizens pay into with their social security payments. It has served the elderly and disabled, since the days of FDR's administtratin passed it, but no more.
Schools here no longer provide arts and music programs because the costs for ESL (English as a second language) costs local school systems millions of dollars, many schools can not even afford text books.
Hygene in hospitals, because of the use of illegal aliens as janitorial staff, has lead to outbreaks of MRSA, a staph infection that is sweeping the nation and is highly deadly as it is not treatable.
Take a stand and defend your nation now. It is not racist or xenophobic to defend your own human and civil rights.

Lech, is spinning the same lies illegal aliens in the US perpetuate.. Immigrants do not spend millions or billions. They undermine wages, then rely on social services to pay their bills. They bleed your country dry, and the corporate interests collude with them.

I was in a central London A&E a few weeks ago. There were only 2 people who were native english speakers. Waiting times was over 2 hours.
An old lady in distress had to wait 3 hours to be seen. This was because of the numbers of east europeans there.
Listening in on their registration revealed that few were on the database or registered with a GP.
I am a disabled Londoner and my ability to survive & work is being threatened by immigration.
Public transport is becoming unusable and jobs are being undercut due to the new labour from abroad.

Lech Bajan,
CEO of a company in english speaking country cant even spell.
Well, it speaks tall of polish standards,
I live in UK, highly educated, pay all my taxes and welcome the idea suggested here.
Speaking about polish nuisance in UK, i think you have overestimated your fellow citizens,
Check how many number of homeless polish are on streets in UK and about hard working nature, well, I reserve my comments, gets your info correct buddy.
Anonymous, London,
In my city these immigrants sell 'The Big Issue', exactly how can they afford to pay for anything? Having them in Britain, is an absolute disgrace, never mind anything else. This government doesn't even know what's going on. How can people selling 'The Big Issue' be beneficial to Britain?
Judy , Liverpool, england
I had a look at jobs the other days. There are lots of jobs for Brits in Poland. There are also lots of Brits working all over Europe. When THEY start paying more for services there, THEN Britain can charge the immigrants more. Because when they flee Britain because of the state it's in, British ex-pats are economic migrants too.
starling, Lancaster,
I know a Brit who "shuttles" between Holland and Britain, because the salaries in Britain are so low, and they pay him so much more in Holland, that he still has money left over after what he pays for his commute.
starling, Lancaster,
Lech Bajan,
I'm well-educated, hard-working, high-taxpaying and consume virtually no services in my adopted country. So what? I came here for a better life and am prepared to pay my dues in return. If I suggested that Australians should be grateful that I deigned to enter their country they would have kicked my backside all the way back to the UK. Stop treating the natives of your host as your inferiors and demanding their gratitude - your compatriots only went there to better themselves not to better their hosts. I know a fair few Poles over here who refuse to pay tax on their earnings and sponge off Centrelink at the same time, something I would never dream of doing. They think it's clever, I think it's cheap. To the British, stop crawling to migrants all the time, it just makes them unbearable. Oh, and treat your compatriots better, then you won't lose so many of them.
Kit , Australia,
Why Polish hard working people have to pay more what they are paying now?
Polish People already pay taxes in UK and they spend money in billions in UK.
Most of them baying high ticket items do not ask for the VAT credit back.
What about the contribution to the local economy.
You make a problem for family benefits of 1million per month, this is nothing compare to the amount of sales and business you get from the polish people.
Does not make any sense. Polish people will not stay in UK forever.
Than in the future you will have to take the Africans instead of hard working poles.
There is about 70 000 new business started by new immigration from Poland
Including the catering to your majesty Quinn Elizabeth.
British Banks are seling serices to Poles in UK and Poland. They all pay taxes in UK
And now you have a problem with 1 million per month for the family services.
