Tony Blair bestrode the world in an exclusive British Airways jet and had plans for a special aircraft that became known as “BlairForce One”. Gordon Brown has had to slum it in a bog-standard charter that might as well be called “BrownForce None”.
As head of Her Majesty’s Government, the Prime Minister was expected to display the Union Jack with pride when he arrived to visit the US President. But the rear of his charter aircraft was adorned with silver stars surrounding a blazing sun, more akin to the flag of the European Union than the Union Jack.
There were no scheduled flights available with British Airways, BMI or Virgin for Mr Brown’s trip, forcing him to visit the world’s most powerful man in a virtually unrecognisable rental. His 757 also had to queue for several minutes at the edge of the runway waiting for take-off. Perhaps he is just one of many passengers who will do anything to avoid BA’s troubled Terminal 5.

thats because all hes intrested in is the sodding european union, which the average british man and woman is sick to the back teeth of.
rita anderton, grimsby,
Gordon has made such a mess of this country that he is ashamed to fly the flag. BA also gave it up. Virgin are the only ones left to do it for us. Re: NuLabour....Hence the BNP will walk all over labour in the May elections. They are not ashamed of the union jack. Well to Gordon and his cronies, the gravy train has run dry...turn off the lights when you leave.....
Phil, Rugby, UK
We don't have a flag anymore, remember, we have been told it's insensitive, smacks of nationalism, the little Englander. Sorry Gordon we don't have anything to be proud of any more, you have either sold it or ruined it all.
Roger, Surrey,
Mr Brown should have landed in the USA in the airworthy Vulcan! The ultimate statement of Britishness!
John, Colchester,
Gordon could arrive in the biggest, fanciest, most expensive jet in the world but like President Bliar, he would remain an embarassment and a disgrace to his country.
R Bingham, Lauzun, France
Brown and his crowd are destroying " Britishness". The old british virtues of tolerance and acceptance of other cultures alongside our own are being replaced by their dangerous, focus group idea of' one size fits all', with their silly tests and citizenship mantras. This island has always had history of absorbing other cultures into the unique tapestry of life in Great Britain; until Nulabour came along.
