Correction: Alan Duncan MP

Our report “Shadow minister failed to declare cash from oil tycoon” (June 8) stated that Alan Duncan MP had failed to declare a donation made to his private office by Ian Taylor, the president of the Vitol Group of Companies. The Sunday Times was misinformed. Mr Taylor has now clarified that his donation was made to the Conservative party and not to Alan Duncan. The donation was properly registered with the Electoral Commission and the full circumstances properly disclosed by Mr Duncan to the parliamentary commissioner for standards. We apologise to all concerned that our article suggested otherwise.
