A nursery may be forced to close after an investigation found that it had been force-feeding children and serving them out-of-date food.
Complaints against All Stars Nursery, in Aberdeen, were upheld by the Care Commission, Scotland’s care regulator, after its inspectors made an unannounced visit last week following a tip-off from a parent.
In one incident, a nursery worker allegedly clamped her hand over a toddler’s mouth after he refused to eat a grape. In another, children were found to have been given food that was beyond its expiry date.
The Care Commission said: “We have fully upheld a complaint against this service . . . and we are currently considering the various options available to us.” The commission can make a court application to have the nursery shut down.
One parents, Diane Ingram, was told by an inspector that her son, Rikki, had been made sick by staff. “She said a woman at the nursery had put a grape into Rikki’s mouth and he spat it out — he doesn’t like grapes. She put it in his mouth again and put her hand over his mouth and he got sick. I’ve not been able to sleep.”
All Stars Nursery, which caters for children aged two to five years, charges about £145 a week. Staff at the nursery refused to comment.

My daughter has been at this nursery for almost 2 years now. She is happy, has never been ill and has no fear of food - which would be symptomatic of these allegations. The comments in the media are by one parent and I know the majority of parents at All Stars fully support the staff.
There needs to be a more balanced report on this case and the Care Commission need to be more accurate in their press releases - there is "probability" of the above being true - NOT fact.
