A 15-year-old boy was found dying in the street in East London in a pool of blood after he had been stabbed in the leg as he returned from the cinema.
The distinctively tall boy, named locally as Adam Regis, collapsed on the pavement a few hundred yards from West Ham’s football stadium at 9.30pm last night. An ambulance took him to the nearby Newham General Hospital where he died just before 11pm.
His murder comes just three days after 16-year-old Kodjo Yenga was stabbed to death while walking with his girlfriend on the other side of the capital in Hammersmith. In Manchester police are also investigating three separate murder inquiries after three young men were stabbed to death in one night. The men, aged 21, 24 and 30, were murdered in unrelated knife attacks during Friday night and Saturday morning.
Police are searching for two black youths wearing dark grey hoodies seen running away from the latest murder scene at the junction of Boundary Road and Kingsland Road in Newham, East London.
The youngster was found by a grandmother with blood pouring from a wound in his leg. He also had another stab wound, said police.
A grandmother told today how she found Adam dying in the street and stayed with him until the emergency services arrived.
Sandra Wynands, 59, thought the boy had suffered a fit and wept when she heard on the radio that he had died.
The mother of two with three granddaughters, was walking along Boundary Road, Upton Park, east London, when she saw the boy slumped on the floor in a pool of blood.
“There were two other black boys there, one on a mobile phone - they looked like they were in shock,” she said. “I told them to call the emergency services, and I did too and we all stayed with him until they arrived, which was very, very shortly afterwards.
“At one point a man in overalls came along and was tickling the boy’s ear, saying, ’Stay alive’. He was still alive, but he wasn’t conscious. When I heard the news on the radio this morning, I just sat and cried.
“How must his mother be feeling on Mothers’ Day?”
She said that she made her nine-year-old grandaughter face the wall until the ambulance arrived as she didn't want her to see the blood.
