An alleged associate of two of the July 7 bombers has been charged by police investigating the London terrorist attacks, Scotland Yard said.
Khalid Khaliq, 34, of Beeston, Leeds, was charged with possessing an al-Qaeda training manual. He was arrested on May 9 with three others, including the widow of the bombers’ leader Mohammad Sidique Khan, who were released without charge last week.
Mr Khaliq will appear today at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
Imran Motala, who was released last week, said that police asked him whether he was the fifth bomber on July 7, although MI5 has apparently dismissed the theory. The differences between Scotland Yard and MI5 over the existence of a fifth bomber have added to pressure for an inquiry.
