Grant in the clear
The actor Hugh Grant will not be prosecuted for allegedly hurling baked beans at a photographer and kicking him. The Crown Prosecution Service said there was insufficient evidence to bring charges and a prosecution would not be in the public interest. Grant, 46, was arrested after an incident near his west London home in April.
Correction: the Kalam family In two articles published last year (“Cyanide fear triggered terror raid” and “Bomb suspect ‘shot without warning’ ”, June 4) we stated that government officials had said Abul Koyair, the brother of Abdul Kahar (who was shot by police when they raided the family home on June 2) had a number of criminal convictions and that their parents had gone on a planned holiday despite what had happened to their sons. We now understand, and accept, that that information was not true, that the decision to raid the family’s home was based on false intelligence and that the family have never been involved in terrorism. We apologise for any embarrassment caused.
