A web designer who called for British soldiers to be brought home from Iraq in bodybags and their blood running in the streets was today found guilty of inciting murder.

Mizanur Rahman, 24, also had placards calling for the annihilation and beheading of those who insulted Islam.

He made his inflammatory remarks over a loudspeaker at a demonstration against the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed in Europe to around 300 people near the Danish Embassy in central London in February last year.

A film of Rahman, of Palmers Green, north London, was shown to the Old Bailey. In it he said: “We want to see them coming home in body bags. We want to see their blood running in the streets of Baghdad.”

He added: “We want to see the Mujahideen shoot down their planes the way we shoot down birds, we want to see their tanks burn in the way we burn their flags.”

Peter Wright QC, for the prosecution, said: “He incited or encouraged others to murder in the name of religion.”

Rahman had denied soliciting the murder of persons who did not believe in, or who insulted the Islamic faith, members of the British and American forces, and Danish, Spanish and French nationals.

He claimed he had found the microphone thrust into his hand and had echoed the chants around him.

Rahman was found guilty following a retrial. In November last year a jury could not agree on the charge, but found him guilty of stirring up race hate.

Following today’s verdict, the court was told he had previous convictions including causing criminal damage by covering up naked women on advertising billboards and having a rice flail in his car.

He was remanded in custody to July 18 for sentence with three others convicted of offences during the demonstration.

Umran Javed, 27,of Birmingham was recorded on video by the police shouting: “Bomb, bomb Denmark. Bomb, bomb USA.”
