NEWPORT The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating an accident in which five people were killed yesterday, after a suspected stolen car drove in the wrong direction on a motorway.
Four youths turned the wrong way on to the M4 after being chased by a police patrol car near Newport, South Wales. The red Ford Mondeo collided head-on with a Volvo, killing a middle-aged Irish couple. Three of the youths, including two brothers aged 18 and 20, died at the scene. A fourth, 18, was in hospital with multiple fractures. Police confirmed that a marked car was pursuing the Mondeo at 3am when it suddenly drove down a slip road on to the motorway, heading westbound on the eastbound carriage. Traffic officers decided it was too dangerous to follow them and called for back-up, but were unable to prevent the collision.
The Mondeo driver swerved between vehicles for a mile and a half before hitting the Volvo at more than 140 mph. The commission is investigating the crash because it followed a police pursuit.

Lots of Mondeo's (V6?) and Volvos (T5?) can do 140mph. What a pointless comment.
This issue is did the Police contribute to the death of innocent people?

Bearing in mind the IPCC are made up of ex Liberty fanatics & other anti-police & anti-establishment individuals, they will no doubt use all their resources to find officers at fault if they can. In order to fulfil their agenda of needing to find someone accountable for something, the IPCC will single out an officer or officers for discrepancies of procedure. The last thing that they will want to do is praise police for their tenacity & bravery in dealing with these armed criminals who, in carrying out their robbery, put a gun to the head of an innocent unarmed Securicor employee. The anti-police IPCC will not want to leave any stone unturned in order to try to do a copper. Lets hope that they are unsuccessful & that they will end up, at huge expense, concluding that the police acted properly. Despite all the foregoing, how galling it must be for our professional police forces to be investigated by a bunch who have little investigative ability & so have to hire in real investigators

Lots of Mondeos (V6?) and Volvos (T5?) can do 140mph. What does it matter if it meant closing speed or actual speed - a pointless comment.

What type of Mondeo (or Volvo) can do 140 mph? - did you mean combined speed?
