ST ALBANS A man promised a court that he would shave off his Edwardian-style, dandy moustache as a way of making amends for a charge of common assault. Charles Law, 48, of Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, pleaded guilty at St Albans Crown Court to kicking a boy, 13, after a group of teenagers made disparaging remarks about the moustache last Christmas Eve. Judge John Plumstead said that he was worried that community service would lead Law into further confrontations. He ordered him to pay £75 to three boys who had been “shocked and frightened”.

Why didn't the Court compel Mr. Law to wear a tracksuit and baseball cap at all times too?
A GRAVE miscarriage of justice!
The country NEEDS more have-a-go-heroes to stand up to yobbish behaviour on our streets rather than people cravenly cowering indoors hoping that someone else will be the victim!
A more fitting fate for this exceptional chap would be to offer him money to teach young louts how to dress properly and grow a decent moustache (rather than the usual, patchy mess of bumfluff or stubble found on the faces of today's under-30s!)
Hildebrand Staggers, Liverpool,
would justice not ahve been better served if the 3 youths were required to do Community service?
