A real sucker for Mr Potato Head

Louis, the giant pacific octopus from Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay, Cornwall, has fun with his ?Mr Potato Head? Christmas present

NEWQUAY

An octopus has become so possessive of a present that his aquarium keepers gave him for Christmas that he fights back whenever they try to remove it. Matt Slater, of Blue Reef Aquarium, said that Louis, a 6ft giant Pacific octopus, was so attached to the Mr Potato Head toy that he refused to let it go.

“We thought it would be a nice Christmas present to enrich his environment. Octopuses are very intelligent and they like to be stimulated and busy,” Mr Slater said.

“We try to give [Louis] different items to play with regularly but Mr Potato Head is definitely his favourite. He’s fascinated by it. There’s even a secret space that allows us to hide tasty treats inside and that, perhaps more than anything, has resulted in it becoming such a hit.”
