Watch Winehouse video on The Sun site
Fears are mounting for Amy Winehouse, after new video footage showed the star allegedly smoking crack cocaine (writes Lucy Bannerman).
The Rehab star was secretly filmed in her dimly-lit bedroom at 5am last Friday, looking wild-eyed and gaunt as she inhaled from a glass pipe.
Winehouse is seen wandering around a party in her home in East London in a dazed and confused state. She is also heard telling friends who are planning to go out, that she would be "useless" to them because she has just taken six valium to "bring myself down".
The footage, revealed by The Sun today, shows the self-destructive spiral of the singer, 24, who is accused of squandering one of the greatest talents in British music.
Despite the apparent use of Class A drugs, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said this afternoon that no allegation had been received. "I'm not aware of any proactive investigation. We are not investigating at the moment," he said.
Winehouse has refused to comment on the footage.
At one point in the video, the skeletal singer accuses one of the guests of letting her pet cat escape from the quiet room into the party.
She is heard mumbling: "If I was that cat, I'd leave on my own accord. I'd call a cab. It ain't right. This ain't Toys R Us. They took my cat."
However, she declines an invitation to go out, because she has to be up at 8am to support her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, who was due to appear in court that morning. He is currently being held in Pentonville Prison, awaiting trial on assault and perverting justice charges.
The singer is later seen lighting up what appears to be a crack pipe in front of their wedding picture.
Winehouse has been nominated for six Grammys, considered the greatest accolades in the music industry, in all four of the top categories. The ceremony is only weeks away, and will be held in Los Angeles on February 10. Whether Winehouse will be in attendance remains to be seen.
