Paul Burrell, the former butler for Diana, Princess of Wales, has allegedly admitted that he did not tell the “whole truth” at her inquest.
It was reported that he withheld details of a conversation he had with the Queen when questioned by the coroner, Lord Justice Scott Baker.
Mr Burrell, who gave evidence at the inquest over three days last month, was secretly recorded in conversation in the United States, where he now lives. He apparently says in the recording, which has been obtained by The Sun: “I told the truth as far as I could, but I did not tell the whole truth. Perjury is not a nice thing to have to contemplate. I was very naughty and made a couple of red herrings, and I couldn’t help doing it. I know you shouldn’t play with justice and I know it’s illegal and I realise how serious it is.”
While giving evidence into the death of the Princess and Dodi Fayed, who with their driver, Henri Paul, were killed in a car crash in Paris in August 1997, Mr Burrell was asked by the coroner to reveal details of a conversation that he had with the Queen. On the recording Mr Burrell said that he was not prepared to divulge everything that she told him. He has claimed previously that the Queen had told him about “dark forces” at work in Britain a few months after the fatal crash in Paris.
At the inquest he was ordered by the coroner to produce a note allegedly written to him by the Princess. In court the following day he said he could not find it.
During the secretly recorded conversation obtained by The Sun, Mr Burrell, 49, is asked by another person whether it was wrong to commit perjury. Mr Burrell apparently replies: “Do you honestly think I’ve told them everything I know? Of course I haven’t.”

The important thing here is, a British citizen stood before a Coroners enquiry and "possibly" perjured himself under oath. I could not care less what his motives were for saying what he said on tape either under the influence or promoting his own self importance, he still "possibly" perjured himself. Surely the Coroner has the ability to pass the information on to the CPS, who always appear willing to drag even innocent people to courts without any evidence, and have an extradition warrant issued on "The Butler". This would put a stop to this egomaniac's parading as a confidant to the Royals.
Thomas, Alicante,
There is a few things Paul isn't saying............
especially what Diana's plans were........for her future............
Why would Diana's future plans be of any interest to the Coroner?
I will let the public at large figure that one out?
According to Paul's first book 'Royal Duty'............it appears Diana had a future.........Hopefully we shall soon know when Paul takes the witness stand once more?
Paul might be in for a bit of a shock when he attends the inquest once again............I understand Paul's motive in hanging on to these so called secrets.
He as no choice but to reveal those secrets relevant to the inquest.........As I understand it.........that is the Coroner's decision as well............

I hope the truth comes out eventually, but if she was murdered it would shake peoples ideas of the world they live in. Of course that is unpleasant for many people. Mr. Burrell should have told what he knew in court. .
For me the fact that she herself feared her ex husband and the royals were planning an "accident" is something not to be just ignored, as painful an accusation it may be. In this case documents have suddenly "dissapeared", witnesses have been killed...anyone who laughs it off is either uninformed or biased against the facts.

When will this deluded man disappear back to his reality TV heaven abroad. He was the butler for goodness sake. Not her "rock" but her servant.
This guy is the royal version of Jade Goody. Came from nowhere, does nothing useful and, once we ignore him, will hopefully go away.
Simon, Leicester,
This whole debacle has now reached the point of farce. I don't know exactly what's going in the courtroom, but all we get in the media is a succession of fantasies by a collection of bewilderingly deluded characters. How any kind of truth can be uncovered in between all the megalomania and paranoia is beyond me.
Martin, Bristol,
If the Queen has a Heart, she will attend this inquest now and make full disclosure of her meeting with Paul Burrell. The jury needs to hear the whole truth and Paul can't be trusted.
HM has been identified as stating after the car crash that "Dark Forces are at work in Britain". Her comment insinuates Dark Forces are in some way responsible for this car crash. It is essential the Queen attends this inquest to provide reasoning for this comment. Was she referring to the Dark Forces of St George, of another patron or both? What would their motive(s) be?
Al Fayed may well have been pointing an accusing finger in the wrong direction.
Alan, Somerset,
Mr Burrell strikes me as a reasonably intelligent person as well as loyal. If he did withhold information as stated (through loyalty?) I would doubt he would ever voice a "confesssion".
May be wrong as maybe being thrown into the limelight has affected him. Still think he would be stupid to let this overcome what should be reticence to reveal such a damning admission.
Bill, UK,
Am I the only person that feels that this affaire is getting considerably more boring by the day - All Burrell seems to be concentrating on is extending his fifteen minutes of fame. I can only assume that this fanfare will be published in a lengthy book that will be over promoted and resold as 'the truth of the Diana inquest'.
Mark, London,
Of course he hasn't told them everything he knows.
He's held back enough to make a couple of nice high paying newspaper articles.

Thank you for exposing the private and very important conversation with Paul Burrell. Can the public and jury really trust the witnesses at this inquest? The truth is, they can't.....
It would appear the judges are not interrogating these witnesses sufficiently nor pushing the witnesses to their limits, otherwise the public and jury would have heard the Whole Truth and nothing but the truth from Paul Burrell.
