Mike Tyson has offered Paul Gascoigne emotional counselling

Paul Gascoigne: will he accept the offer?
You know things must be bad when Mike Tyson offers you counselling.
Paul Gascoigne, the soccer legend, has received just such an offer from the boxer once known as the Baddest Man on the Planet.
The former England midfielder recently suffered a mental breakdown, which required two weeks in hospital for psychiatric treatment.
But Tyson, the former heavyweight boxing champion, believes his own chequered past could help and has offered to meet Gascoigne when he comes to England next month.
Tyson, 41, said: “I know all about Gazza and I feel I can help him. A lot of top sportsmen have suffered in their private lives, including me, and that is why I want to help. I still see him as a superstar and would like to meet him if he feels up for it.”
Iron Mike has already met Wayne Rooney, the England striker and keen boxing fan, several times. Their first meeting three years ago was a boost for the young footballer at a time when he was under fire for his aggressive style of play.
Tyson said: “Back in 2005, Wayne Rooney was on a downer and I met him and lifted his spirits. I am sure I can do the same for Paul Gascoigne.”
Tyson makes an unlikely counsellor, having been convicted of rape in 1992 and jailed for a day in November last year for driving while under the influence of drugs. He had his Nevada state boxing licence suspended in 1997 after biting off a part of Evander Holyfield's ear.
The boxer will complete a series of speaking engagements on a "dinner tour" of northern England next month, including a date in Gateshead, a stone’s throw from where Gascoigne grew up.
Ray Fisher, the promoter, said: “Mike is a very polite guy and very humble. He has been through a lot and he said he would like to meet Gazza and help him if he could.”
Gascoigne was detained in February after Northumbria Police were called to a Newcastle hotel following reports he was acting erratically. He has since been treated and has been staying with members of his family in the North East.

Ive meet Tyson several times now through Andy Booker his friend and mine from Doncaster, Yorkshire. Mike is a very pleasent and softly spoken man - he would do Gazza a power of good.
Jim, Doncaster, Yorkshire, England
Paul Gascoigne was as brilliant in his career as was Mike Tyson was in his. I see nothing wrong in Paul taking a pointer or two from Mike - he has had enough problems and drama in his life to be very useful in this regard.
I hope they meet and I hope it helps to settle the mind of a truly brilliant footballer.
Please go for it Gazza!

When I saw the headline my first thought was that Tyson had offered to sort out the Gaza Strip in the Middle East!
On reflection it seems like a good plan.

"Hard Times", after the money they've earned, and blown! Has the Stan Collymore sympathy brigade resurfaced? Pardon me for quoting from the scriptures: "he to whom much is given, much shall be expected of." Hard Times.......look at my bank balance, my commute, and the nonsense I have to put up with at my workplace, but I'm not one for cribbing about my misfortunes.........

"Tyson makes an unlikely counsellor"
Well said Adam, sometimes it's better from someone that has lived it and pulled themselves through, than those who read the book.
Dean, Barcelona,
You can learn lessons from those who have been through hard times. They are the best examples.
