Naomi Campbell has declared herself a champion of the dispossessed.
Having been arrested at Heathrow and apparently banned from all British Airways flights, the famously short-tempered supermodel revealed today that she will no longer use the airline because of its “complete disrespect for the passengers” of Terminal Five.
Ms Campbell also claimed that BA had changed its mind about banning her from its aircraft and was now desperate for her custom.
In an interview in a Brazilian newspaper today, she said that the airline had pleaded with her to use their planes again and that she was refusing to do so in a stand against the catastrophic failings of the £4.3 billion terminal.
Ms Campbell, 37, who is in Rio to publicise the fight against dengue fever, said: “Someone from BA called me and asked that I return to fly with them but this will not occur so early. They didn’t find my bag – said it wasn’t in the system – and there was a complete disrespect for the passengers.
“You Brazilians went through the same problem last year,” she added, referring to an air traffic controllers strike. “The case in Terminal 5 at Heathrow was the same thing and I am not speaking for myself. I am speaking for all those who have been disrespected.”
A spokesman for BA said today: “We have not confirmed or denied that any passenger has been banned,” but a BA insider told London’s Evening Standard paper: “We are not aware of any pleading phone calls to Ms Campbell.”
Ms Campbell, who was once accused of hitting her assistant in the face with a Blackberry phone, was placed in handcuffs by Heathrow police on 3 April after she allegedly spat at a police officer. She had been previously banned from a flight in September for arriving too late for her take-off, prompting her to fly into a rage.
After the incident, her spokeswoman tried to defuse the situation, saying: “Naomi has been flying for nearly 30 years and has been a good customer. She hopes this can be resolved amicably.”

Probably suffers from delusions of grandeur.
I have met some of Italy's top models and I can assure you that most of them are the nicest people you would want to meet, respectful and humble.Something miss Campbell should learn.

I hope this vile harridan will be spending some time courtesy of Her Majesty's prisons as a result of her spitting at a police officer.
Only an overpaid egotistical clothes horse like Naomi Campbell could turn herself into a martyr for Terminal five to feed her self serving publicity machine.
Tim Abernethy, Newbury, Berkshire
Er, surely this has to do with her being arrested after assualting people in terminal 5, including a police officer. She is one of the worst types of people. She thinks that she is important and better than everyone else just because she walks on a catwalk? What does she actually do for society?
Rob, Richmond,
Is she also boycotting Blackberry 'phones?
Bill Peter, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
As if Ms Campbell gives a hoot about other 'disrespected' passengers. She certainly does not deserve a round of applause for using other passengers' misfortunes as a cheap publicity stunt. If BA did in fact ban her from their planes then I'm sure any member of crew who had the bad luck to come across her gave a standing ovation. Fantasist, stranger to the truth, serial lobber of phones, jewellery and anything else that is not stuck down to the floor (and I speak from personal experience!) Mills and Campbell Incorporated does have a certain ring to it....

Ha Ha Ha - the woman is deluded. Rather than her being banned, SHE has CHOSEN to boycott BA.
Yeah ... right ... we believe you.
An earlier comment mentioned "Fantasist" - that about sums it up for this horrible woman.
Douglas Newell, Saltcoats, Ayrshire, Scotland
A boycott that all BA cabin crew wil be very thankfull for. and hope that it will go on forever.
Michael, cannes,
Ms Campbell should be applauded, she is absolutely right, BA have indeed shown disrespect toward their customers this is no doubt. And then how dare these very irked customers voice their views to be accused of insulting the airline. This is a topsy turvey world! I also think there is a racist element to the whole saga, banning Nigerians from their flights (who have now started a Boycott BA campaign) and then Ms Campbells treatment differed so very much from from the Ms Moss who got £10,000 for her trouble flying the sodden flag.
Adam, Twickenham,
You go for it Girl !!!! I congratulate you for your stance against BA, a great public service. Yesterday we saw the two heads of two flunkies sacrificed for the BAs complete failure at T5, but Walsh sails on unscathed to what probably will be his biggest Annual Bonus or at worst a Platinum Parachute. If only more passengers would take your stand, the BA would feel it where it hurts .... in their pockets. Remember Pan Am with their slogan " You cant beat the experience" right on, the passengers thought the slogan was 100% right on and deserted them in droves. BA is headed in exactly the same direction. Thanks you Naomi for your great public service.
New York Peter, New York, USA
Personally I hope that BA do ban her. There's no excuse for her sort of behaviour, regardless of the circumstances.
Well done BA.
Adam, Billericay, Essex
For once Naomi Campbell seems to have a legitimate reason to fly into a rage. Go Naomi!
Paula Smid, London, UK
This woman is far too big for her boots. It's about time she was taken down a peg or two.
If it were you or me perfoming in this way aboard an aircraft, or anywhere else for that matter, we'd be marched off to jail or fined huge amounts of money, and banned from their flights.
As always, there's one rule for the rich and famous, and one rule for Joe public.
Margaret, Cardiff, Wales
My sympathies are with Ms Campbell - I'm just amazed it's taken so long for anyone to complain publicly about BA's overall poor performance - whether on the ground or in the Air! I practice extreme measures to avoid BA & the BAA & Heathrow - luckily there are good competetive alternatives!
