A public lavatory that looks like Darth Vader’s spaceship has been shortlisted for the best new building in Britain award by the Royal Institute of British Architects.
The £300,000 toilet block, right, in Gravesend, Kent, which features a triangle roof eerily similar to the Star Wars villain’s Executor base, is the only lavatory to be shortlisted for the national prize, up against Chelsea FC’s new training ground in Surrey and a multimillion-pound academy school in Folkestone, Kent. The winner will be announced at a ceremony in June.
The convenience was designed by Plastik Architects, which was briefed by the council to provide an iconic building for the town centre.

The "Villain's" base was a sphere not a triangle, the trangles were vehicles (star destroyers). A spherical toilet would have been very unpractical, hard to build and much more costly plus it may have rolled away.
I think the design is excellent and possibly that shape because the site is triangular

And heres a perfect example of what the local council is wasting the publics money on, But its absolutely ok, because they'll just raise some tax to pay for it. All is dandy in the land of rip my arm of and sell it to me.
Matthew Bacon, Gravesend, Kent
Funny that Rob + Danny both, as fate would have it, living in Kent have exactly the same opinion. I could build a house for quite a bit less than £300k but that's not the point. If you want your house to be full of sanitary items then it probably will cost that much. Portakabins are all you deserve.

If you guys don't enjoy it, send it over to Calgary, Alberta. We love Star Wars over here. I would be happy to do my business aboard a Star Destroyer.

A £300,000 toilet! I could build a house for that! It adds to its surroundings as much as any other silly shape would, and I can't imagine a triangular 'form' making the call of nature any more convenient. I can't see much from the photo either, but it looks pretty small and expensive to me.

Well said Matt. Star Wars is just fiction. This building looks real. More Star Trek than Star Wars. The issue is whether the building is any good, does it add to its surroundings and is the form appropriate to the function. You can't see much from the photo, but it looks pretty good to me.

Last time I checked, "triangle" shapes have been around a lot longer than Star Wars. People have overly active imaginations.
