LONGLEAT A baby monkey has surprised staff at a safari park by climbing 100ft (30m) up an oak tree to feast on the new leaves sprouting at the top. The tiny rhesus monkey, left, which is only a few months old, was spotted by staff at Longleat Safari Park in Wiltshire.
Rhesus monkeys live in the wild in India and South-East Asia. They are renowned at Longleat for pulling the windscreen wipers off cars. Ian Turner, the deputy head keeper, said that the enclosure encouraged the rhesus monkeys “to use their natural foraging and climbing skills to the full. In the wild their diet includes seeds, roots, buds, fruit, invertebrates and bark”.

This is a neat story and pleasurable to read.
I had a pet spider monkey (south American) that climbed
a tree - got scared and was screeching.
I climbed the tree and the branches got thinner and thinner,
But I was able to reach the monkey and that ended
her misadventure.
