A DRUNKEN German tourist stabbed a British woman on her honeymoon in Kenya and attacked two other hotel guests, killing one of them before killing himself.
Lisa Seaman, 32, was stabbed in the stomach in front of her husband, Mark, 31, as the couple walked back to their hotel room on Saturday night. They had been married on Wednesday last week as part of a holiday package at the resort of Malindi, 320 miles east of the capital, Nairobi.
Mrs Seaman was taken to the district hospital at Mombasa, 35 miles south of Malindi, where doctors yesterday performed minor surgery on the wounds to her stomach. Mr Seaman said: “She is going to be all right and we will go home as soon as she is strong enough,” The couple, from Lowestoft, Suffolk, were confronted by Olaf Klinkusch, a German, moments after he had fatally stabbed another guest during an argument in the hotel bar of the £190-a-night Tropical Africa Dream Village Hotel.
The 41-year-old man is understood to have been drinking heavily when he had a disagreement with a female hotel guest, Christel Blubau. When a Swiss man, Hugo Meischerhaus, tried to intervene, Klinkusch pulled out a knife, fatally stabbing him. He then ran off into the grounds, where he confronted Mr and Mrs Seaman.
“He was blocking our path, but I have absolutely no idea what he was saying, he was shouting something in German or English but I couldn’t understand him,” Mr Seaman said. “Then he took a large knife from a bag he had on his shoulder and stabbed at Lisa’s stomach.” Klinkusch then fled and barricaded himself into a store-room at the hotel, where he committed suicide by stabbing himself.
The couple had arrived in Kenya on December 2 and were due to fly home on Thursday.
