Teenagers charged with Kinsella killing
Three teenagers were charged last night with the murder of Ben Kinsella, 16, who was stabbed to death in Islington, North London, in the early hours of Sunday.
Juress Kika, Michael Alleyne, both 18, and Jade Braithwaite, 19, are due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court this morning.
On Tuesday around 400 protesters, including the victim’s sister, the former EastEnders actress Brooke Kinsella, marched along Upper Street in Islington to the scene of the killing to demand an end to knife crime.
Hotel voyeur jailed
A hotel manager who put a camera in a room to watch a couple having sex was jailed for six months at Langbaurgh East Magistrates’ Court, in North Yorkshire. Clarence Birkbeck, 67, who had denied voyeurism, said he had fitted the camera to see if the couple were using drugs.
Drug-run granny smuggled heroin
A grandmother who was a trusted prison visitor for 15 years has been convicted of smuggling heroin into a maximum-security jail. Jessie Cooper, 69, a former nurse, was told by a judge at Leeds Crown Court to prepare to serve her own prison sentence after a jury found her guilty of taking nine grams of the drug into Wakefield prison, West Yorkshire, hidden in her handbag.
Forces IT delays
The £7 billion programme to install a single computer system across the Armed Forces is £182 million over budget and 18 months behind schedule, the National Audit Office says. It says the delays were partly because of the dilapidated state of some of military sites where computers were being fitted, including problems with asbestos.
BBC shuts phone unit
The BBC is set to close down the in-house company responsible for a series of phone-in revenue scandals. The Audiocall service banked £106,000 of viewers’ donations that should have gone to charities including Children In Need and Comic Relief. BBC Worldwide, the broadcaster’s commercial arm, said that phone-ins will be run externally.

Polaroid set to shake up photography again
Polaroid, the company famous for instant cameras with wet prints that you had to shake dry, has embraced modern technology with a miniature printer that can develop images from mobile phones in 60 seconds (Fiona Hamilton writes).
The Polaroid PoGo, which goes on sale today, uses thermal printing instead of ink and produces business card-sized colour photos. It can link to digital cameras, and is Bluetooth compatible. The printer costs £99, and each sheet of paper costs about 30p. Polaroid stopped making the original film last year after digital cameras rendered it obsolete.
