Prince William is to act as one of the witnesses at his father's wedding to Camilla Parker Bowles, Clarence House said today.
The 22-year-old prince will be joined in his formal duty as witness by his new stepbrother Tom, Mrs Parker Bowles's son.
Details of the wedding guest were announced today, showing that Princes Andrew and Edward and Princess Anne will attend the civil wedding ceremony at the Guildhall in Windsor.
The presence of his brothers and sister may come as a relief to the Prince and his long-time companion, after the news that the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh would not attend the marriage, opting only for the later ceremony of blessing in St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.
Royal officials have insisted the Queen's absence from the wedding is not a snub, but she has been slow fully to accept the relationship between Charles and divorcee Camilla, whom she blamed for breaking up her son's marriage to Princess Diana.
The ceremony is expected to last for just 20 minutes and will be witnessed by about 30 people.
However, there will be some 700 guests at the St George’s Chapel blessing, to be given by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams. They will include European royalty, the Prime Minister, opposition leaders and celebrities.
A reception will follow in the State Apartments of Windsor Castle where a finger-food buffet is expected to be served.
Prince Harry will attend the civil ceremony, along with Camilla's father Major Bruce Shand and her daughter Laura Parker Bowles. The Countess of Wessex and the Princess Royal's husband Rear Admiral Timothy Laurence will also be among the guests.
The Prince and Mrs Parker Bowles will arrive together and leave the Guildhall from Windsor Castle in a 1962 Rolls Royce Phantom V previously used by the Queen Mother.
A preliminary meeting will take place before the ceremony in the Guildhall's Ascot Room, during which Clair Williams, the Registrar, will confirm the bride and groom's details.
Mrs Williams, chief registrar for the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, admitted she might be nervous on the day but said she was very pleased to be marrying the Prince and his bride.
"I am absolutely delighted that I have been asked to conduct this unique and historic ceremony. While all weddings are very special to the couples concerned, this one is particularly important and it is a tremendous honour. I am really looking forward to it," she said.
Ms Williams has 10 years experience in the Registration Service and was appointed the borough's superintendent registrar last year.
She will be assisted on the day by registrar Claire Paterson, who will record the marriage in the marriage registers, held in the Maidenhead Register Office.
