2 for 1 at Pizza Express
As much as you might like Kate or Imelda to walk away with the Oscar for Best Actress next month, there is little you can do about it. According to Oddschecker, Hilary Swank is the odds-on favourite with all the online bookmakers. But you can still pay your money and have your say for the Razzies, celebrating Hollywood’s flops.
A $25 (£13) membership from the Razzies site will let you vote for Angelina Jolie as Worst Actress (for two recent roles, no less). Pay $100 and half a dozen of your friends can vote too for a host of under-achieving A-listers. Vote buying? That’s right.
And then there are the Bloggies 2005: the shortlist has an excellent mix of serious, frivolous and classic diary-type blogs. Voting finishes on Thursday. The Bloggies are well worth a trawl. I recommend Chocolate & Zucchini (sumptuous pictures of food), La Coquette (an American learning to love Paris) and the self-explanatory Londonist site. Also featured is Random Acts of Reality, the musings and anecdotes of a London ambulance driver, although the site is up only for the Best Tagline award:
“Trying to kill as few people as possible.”

True confessions
Another blog worth visiting (although it’s not really a blog) is the postsecret site. This invites readers to send a postcard bearing their darkest secret, to be scanned in by the webmaster and posted online.
Among those divulging their secrets are the woman who boasts that she has her ex-boyfriend’s e-mail password and likes to erase messages before he reads them and the man who as a kid used to throw eggs into a neighbour’s pool. My favourite: “I’m secretly fed up with irony.”
