Teacher's tormentor found guilty
The teenager whose confrontation with a special needs teacher led to her being jailed for firing an air pistol has been convicted of assault and criminal damage. Nicholas Viollet, 17, was found guilty of a series of verbal and physical assaults on a young couple over ten months.

Linda Walker, 48, was sentenced to six months in jail after firing an air pistol at a gang of youths she claimed had conducted a campaign of intimidation against her family. She spent only 36 days in prison after her sentence was reduced on appeal, but she was dismissed from her £30,000-a-year job at New Park High School in Eccles, Manchester, leaving her career in tatters.

Trafford Youth Court was told that Viollet had spent months harassing Daniel Brooks, and his girlfriend, Nicola Raw. The couple, who live in Urmston, Manchester, were subjected to repeated abuse and attacks.

The court imposed an interim antisocial behaviour order that bars Viollet from approaching his victims. He was released and ordered to return to Trafford Magistrates’ Court on August 9 for sentence.
