Feted then hated by the viewing public, Big Brother contestant Makosi Musambasi now faces being deported back to Zimbabwe for breaching the terms of her visa by appearing on the game show.
Immigration officials were today questioning the imperious 24-year-old, who may have invalidated her work permit by leaving her job as a cardiac nurse to enter the BB House.
Miss Musambasi, from High Wycombe, was stopped by police yesterday who allegedly spotted her in the passenger seat of a car without a seatbelt.
Police passed her details on to the Immigration Service as a matter of routine.
A spokesman for Surrey Police said today: "Police stopped a car on the M25 near Stoke D’Abernon at 5pm yesterday on a driving matter. A 24-year-old Zimbabwean was then questioned by the immigration services which is now dealing with the matter."
Miss Musambasi was the favourite to win the Channel 4 contest until the final weeks when public support slumped amid her claims that she had fallen pregnant after a drunken fumble in the jacuzzi with ultimate winner Anthony Hutton, 23.
Her popularity was further lowered following revelations that she was an actress who had been fast-tracked through the strict audition process by a talent agency.
She was jeered as a "liar" by the crowd which had gathered to witness her eviction last month.
Miss Musambasi told The Sun that she felt she had been both used and betrayed after her release from custody last night.
She said: "I don’t know what crime I’ve committed. I’d love to keep living in England but just don’t know what’s happening.
"I feel I’ve been used for entertainment and now am being betrayed."
It is understood that Miss Musambasi has since re-applied for a visa. If the Home Office turns down her application, she will have 10 days to appeal against the decision.
A Home Office spokesman said any overseas national who left the job for which they were granted a work permit would be questioned by immigration officials.
Earlier this month, the Home Office suspended all deportations of failed asylum seekers to Zimbabwe as the high court considered whether it was a "safe" country.
