Top of the pecking order is the marriage of Tom Parker Bowles, 31, to the fashion journalist Sara Buys, 32, only five months after the groom’s mother, Camilla, tied the knot with the Prince of Wales.
The couple, who met through mutual friends at Oxford, will marry at St Nicholas’ Church in Rotherfield Greys, near Henley-on-Thames. The betting is that the bride will be wearing a less-revealing outfit than the back-to-front skirt she displayed at the wedding of her prospective parents-in-law.
Next on the list will be the nuptials of the model Jodie Kidd, 26, and the internet entrepreneur Aidan Butler, 28, who experienced an instant spark when they met during the Gumball Rally. They will marry at the 16th-century church in Twineham, West Sussex, at a ceremony that the bride says will be only for family and close friends, followed by a reception at the All-England Jumping Course at Hickstead.
Meanwhile, Peter Mandelson’s youthful former aide Derek Draper, 36, will marry the GMTV presenter Kate Garraway, 37, supported by the cream of morning television.
Garraway, whose first marriage, to the television producer Ian Rumsey, ended three years ago, has decided to sell the story to a glossy magazine, so expect Hello! to be well represented at the wedding in Central London and the subsequent bash in Piccadilly.
“I saw the size of the bar bill and thought it made sense,” she said recently. The only hint she has given about her dress is that she has ruled out a PVC skirt and boob tube.
Finally, there is the wedding of Katie Price, 27, to the singer Peter Andre, 32. She may be better known as the busty model Jordan. The couple, who met on the ITV programme I’m a Celebrity . . . Get Me Out of Here!, will wed before a massed choir at Highclere Castle, Hampshire, the family seat of the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon. Jordan will make the mile-long drive to the nuptials in a Cinderella-style horse and carriage, though her train is said to be too long to cram inside and will have to be fitted upon arrival.
A pair of thrones, in Posh and Becks mode, will accommodate them at the wedding breakfast and a five-tier chocolate cake help to refresh them and their 350 closest friends. OK! magazine has secured the rights to this event.
Fears that the carriage will revert to a pumpkin are unfounded — the festivities will last a mere 11 hours.
