Woman killed with baby in arms
Hooded teenage robbers shot dead a woman as she cradled her niece, the Old Bailey has been told.

Zainab Kalokoh, 33, had moved to Britain to escape violence in her native Sierra Leone, Brian Altman, for the prosecution, told the court.

But she lost her life when a gang of armed teenagers burst into the child’s christening party at a community hall in Peckham, South London.

About 100 people were at the hall on the Wood Dene Estate ion August 27 last year. One of the youths fired a sawn-off shotgun into the ceiling, then a handgun was discharged into Mrs Kalokoh’s head. She fell to the floor still cradling the baby.

As she lay dying the gang told guests to lie down while they collected their valuables.

Three youths aged 17 and one aged 15, all from South London, deny murdering Mrs Kalokoh, conspiracy to rob and possession of a firearm.

The trial continues.
