Molly Campbell, the 12-year-old girl who flew to Pakistan behind the back of her Scottish mother, claimed today that her mother had forced her to lose contact with her father, sister and brothers.
Speaking at a press conference in a suburb of Lahore this morning, Molly told journalists that her mother, Louise Campbell, 38, had even forced her to change her e-mail address, and had made her send all her messages through her mother's e-mail accounti89.
Her mother monitored all her e-mails before they were sent, she claimed, saying that the restrictions started after Mrs Campbell moved her from mainland Scotland to the remote Western Isles in January.
Sitting alongside her father, Sajad Ahmed Rana, sister and two brothers in Lahore, Molly - who asked to be referred to by her Muslim name, Misbah - also ridiculed fears that she had been flown out for an arranged marriage. She said that she would be free to marry when, or if, she wanted to, and she would not marry anyone until she was in her 20s.
At the same press conference, Mr Rana claimed that Misbah had told him that she did not like living in the Western Isles, and that she planned to run away if her father had not let her go with him to Pakistan.
Misbah told reporters that she only got back in contact with her Pakistani family when her sister, 18, turned up out of the blue at her school in Stornoway - having found out by detective work which institution she attended.
"My sister came to see me, and I asked to go with her because I was not allowed to see my family. My mum said she did not trust my brothers and sister," Misbah told the press conference.
The pair then flew from Stornaway Airport, on the Western Isles, to Glasgow, where they met her father.
Mr Rana told the press conference he had made absolutely sure that she wanted to go before they flew on to Lahore.
"When she came to the airport, I asked her: 'Are you sure you want to come?' She said: 'Yes, papa, you take me otherwise I am going to run away.'"
Misbah told reporters that her mother had banned her communicating independently with her Pakistani family, which had left her unhappy. "My mum made me change my e-mail address," she said, adding: "The only way I could speak to my sister was by sending e-mails through my mum."
Mr Rana stressed that he was happy to allow his daughter to fly back to Scotland immediately with the Glasgow Central MP Mohammed Sarwar, who had come out to the Asian country to meet her and act as an intermediary in the dispute - but she did not want to.
