ROSELANE DRIZA will have been given a patdown search on arrival at Holloway jail before her personal details were checked and she was asked if she understood what had happened at court.

Driza was photographed and searched after being registered into the jail and if she needed extra clothing, staff would provide a prison-issue tracksuit.

She would then have been given an information pack on the jail plus a £2 telephone card to allow her to make calls to family and friends.

New prisoners at the North London jail are usually held in H1 wing. They are helped to settle in by workers from the Prison Advice and Care Trust, who check their details and note any problems, including the use of illegal drugs and alcohol abuse.

On the day after her arrival at the jail, Driza would attend an induction programme in which officers explain how the jail operates.

Staff from the education department, the Probation Service, legal service, housing and benefits agency and healthcare centre give short talks to new inmates before answering any questions.

A second session in the afternoon involves talks about bullying, race relations and the role of the prison’s chaplaincy. A quiz is held at the end of the induction programme to determine what new inmates had learnt about life at the prison.

After 48 hours in the admissions unit Driza will be moved to a normal wing.
