Princess and millionaire 'just friends'

She said that she and Mikhail Kravchenko, 40, described as a furniture tycoon, shared nothing more than a friendship and an interest in textile design. The princess appeared unperturbed yesterday as she sat with her husband at a church service to mark the Queen’s 80th birthday.

The News of the World published photographs of Princess Michael holding hands with Mr Kravchenko, touching his cheek, embracing him and in a gondola together. It reported she had checked into a £2,200-a-night suite in a Venice hotel under the name Mrs Green. Mr Kravchenko was a guest in the same hotel.

Simon Astaire, spokesman for the princess, said her husband knew of the friendship. “Their relationship is strictly platonic,” he added.
