One of the suspects may be an associate of a jailed al-Qaeda operative, Dhiren Barot, who plotted to kill “hundreds if not thousands” of people using limousines packed with explosives.
According to reports last night, “crystal clear” CCTV footage of the driver of the Mercedes left outside Tiger Tiger showed a “close resemblance” to the man. The US station ABC, quoting British authorities, also reported that mobile phones in both cars failed to detonate the bombs, though each was called twice. It added that the first car was stolen in June and seen in Scotland and Birmingham in the past two days.Scotland Yard refused to comment on the ABC reports.

Drink drivers kill more, they were rubbish. The doctors could have done more damage in their main jobs by not washing their hands. No one even died.

Well, let's see the video then. Surely it's not a secret is it?
This whole thing smells odd.

Terrorism works by instilling terror. We must be cautious. We must be vigilant. We must never be afraid. And we must never retreat from our liberties, our freedoms, our tolerance. Long live habeus corpus!!

This when we need James Bond and some of his pre-emptive tactics. Fire with fire I say.

Any person that even thinks the UK security services are in any way complicit in the recent attempts to destroy innocent people are as sick as the perpetrators.
There should be a minimum mandatory term of 30 years for attemted mass murder

Whilst membership of the EU precludes capital punishment surely it is in our national interest to reconsider capital punishment for acts of terror or attempted acts of terror on UK soil.

I read long ago in DCS Bob Taylor's book Crimebuster: Inside the Minds of Britain's Most Evil Criminals that Britain should have a national DNA database. At the very least he maintained that those immigrants seeking entry to the UK should have their DNA recorded. Itâs conceivable given that this bomb did not explode that the police will at least have some DNA evidence but now have the mountainous task of tracking it down.

Two stories on the front page today help justify the need for CCTV (despite the invasion of privacy). This story has CCTV and the police have some very good leads whilst with the Madeleine story there was no CCTV around the holiday complex and police appear to have not much. The ends justify the means ?

Another false flag terror event. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if MI5 was complicit in this scam to terrify people. How strange that this event should coincide with comrade Brown's ascension to No10
I am more terrified of my own government and the government of the USA under Bush and Cheney than I am of any halfwit terrorists.
These totalitarians are complicit in these staged events. Their aim is to terrify the people into submission. It's much easier to steal the liberty and freedom of the people when they are scared half to death by government inspired fear.

Mr Hansen we are at one with you, on this matter since 2001, but in fighting the enemies of freedom and democracy since before last century. We are all looking after your wife who is a guest in our counrty- as best we can.

Shocking, disturbing, annoying! But: We should never forget that this is a radical group with only weak links to the ethnic population in our country. To overestimate the power of these extremists means to give them what they want.
I was born and raised in Germany when leftists cut the country to the quick by kidnapping and killing econimic leaders, politicians and terrorists. The people never sympathised with them and when it turned out, that their fight brought country together instead of dividing it, the terror eased off.
Jonathan Gaard, London, London
I simply cannot say enough to express my extreme admiration and gratitude to the brave officer who defused the bomb in the first car. My wife is visiting London as a student in a Shakespeare study program, and obviously I am concerned for her safety, however I would add we have always agreed that when we change our lives as a result of terrorist acts, then by that action, we allow these idiots to win.
