The former Radio One DJ and convicted paedophile Chris Denning has agreed to be extradited to Slovakia to face child porn charges.

Denning, 66, who was part of the station’s launch team in the 1960s, is accused of making and possessing child pornography, including hiring boys to appear in movies and stills.

He was arrested on an extradition warrant shortly after being released from a British prison, having been sentenced to four years for indecently assaulting boys as young as 12 during the 1970s and 1980s. He has also spent three and a half years in a prison in the Czech Republic for abusing boys.

Denning, appearing yesterday at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court, agreed to the extradition. He signed a written agreement which means that he cannot now appeal against it. District Judge Anthony Evans said: “As you have consented to extradition to Slovakia, I now make the formal order for extradition to that country. That will take place within the next ten days.”

Denning was once a producer for the Beatles and helped to launch the Bay City Rollers. He was remanded in custody pending extradition.
