SHEFFIELD A convicted rapist who sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl and then slit her throat has been found guilty of her murder.

Michael Clark is expected to be jailed for life by Sheffield Crown Court today for murdering Zuzanna Zommer, whose family had moved to Britain from Poland to start a new life. The court heard that Zuzanna's parents, Robert and Matgorzarta, returned from dropping off their nine-year-old son for his first day at school to find her partially naked body on the floor in their bedroom in Leeds. A forensic pathologist, who conducted the post-mortem examination, found that Zuzanna was raped and her throat was cut. She was stabbed in the stomach and had her head stamped on. Blood matches were found on Clark's clothing. He was a neighbour.

Clark, a jobless glue-sniffer, had gone to a funfair in Blackpool after the attack. He was found guilty of Zuzanna's murder on October 1 last year. Jurors heard that Clark, 40, had previous convictions for rape, indecent assault and assault.
