A chilling list of preparations for the July 7 attack on London was found at the gang's bomb factory, a court was told yesterday.
The “to-do” list included obtaining wiring and shrapnel for the explosive devices that killed 52 people on London's transport system in 2005. It also contained items such as “car (booking)”, “memorise duas [prayers]” and “house clearance”, a jury at Kingston Crown Court was told.
Shezhad Tanweer, who killed seven people on a Circle Line train at Aldgate, had scribbled: “Back-up plan, actual plan, roles for the day, families, wills, smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, blinds for the car and shrapnel.”
Hasib Hussain, who killed 13 people on a bus in Tavistock Square, had written at the top of the page: “Plan for the day. If confronted, deal with it.”
There are also entries in the handwriting of the gang's ringleader Mohammed Sidique Khan, who killed six passengers on a Circle Line train at Edgware Road, stating: “Sid [Khan's nickname] lighters, halogen bulbs”.
The lists detailed activities including “Tuesday: reconnaissance” and “Wednesday: boiling and wiring”, the jury was told. They were written in an A4 pad found at the bomb factory in Alexandra Grove, Leeds, it is claimed.
The court was told that electrostatic testing on the pad had revealed the impressions of other “hidden” lists on several of the sheets of paper.
The evidence was produced during the trial of three British Muslims accused of conspiring with the 7/7 bombers to cause explosions. Waheed Ali, 24, Mohammed Shakil, 31, and Sadeer Saleem, 27, all from Beeston, Leeds, deny the charges.
The court heard that traces of DNA from Mr Ali and Mr Saleem were found at the bomb factory.
All three men are said to have scouted for targets during a two-day visit to the capital. They admit spending time in London in December 2004, but claim that it was for social reasons.
The trial continues.
