Two teenagers were in a critical condition after being shot in separate gun attacks and another man was beaten to death over the weekend. A 17-year-old boy was in hospital after being found in Camden, North London, with a gunshot wound to the head, at 11pm on Saturday. It was the second shooting of a teenager in the area in two days.
Another 17-year-old boy was shot in the stomach in Archway, North London, on Friday. He was taken to a hospital where his condition was said to be improving. A 17-year-old youth and an 18-year-old man were arrested near the scene and were still being questioned by police last night.
Both shootings were being investigated by Scotland Yard’s Operation Trident team, which tackles gun crime in the black community.
In Hendon, northwest London, James Graham, 29, was beaten to death on Friday night. A 20-year-old man is being questioned by police on suspicion of murder. Mr Graham’s family have been informed.
Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Mortimer, who is leading the murder investigation, said: “James was much loved by his friends and family. We are particularly keen to speak to a woman who stopped at the scene and attempted first aid.”

People have short memories there were lots of knife fights from the 20's thru to the 50's but it wasn't reported as much. The media loves to push the fear factor. More people in a small space = more violence. Massive immigration has played a part in more knife crime, not that you can say that now.

I love London and I want to move there someday but I hope the government takes action against crime or I don't think I'll be able to do what I plan in the future. I don't want to live in a crime-ridden city.
I've heard that the crime stats for London are worse than those of NY, can't believe it..
Anna, Parma, Italy
Modern parents are incapable to raise their children. The government must take care of them by providing good schools and those who does not attend would be enrolled in Army. It is surrealistic to have a prince shooting gangs in the battlefield while gangs are shooting people in London.

What is happening? Its multiculturism, learn to embrace it.
Bill, London,
Parents delegate responsibility to the schools. Kids leave at 15. The have not learnt the hidden curriculum- what it is to be a member of a civil society. Respect, patience, kindness. Instead they gang up and hate.
jane, Whittlesey, UK
much of this is gang related and thanks to mixed housing policies in London the majority of people in this once fine city no longer feel safe. we need one strike your out...it did wonders for NYC.
Alexander , London, England
Accidents and deaths due to cars, and we all hear about the 3000 lives killed each year (despite 1/4 of these being motor bike accidents). Yet when it comes to the number of fights and killings (often caused by guns or knives), we dont see signs such as '3 people killed, and 55 injured here'!!
David, Aylesbury, UK
Are we going to have to wait until a high ranking politician loses a relative to gun/knife crime?
Paul, Belfast, NI
tough on crime tough on the causes of crime...... blah blah blair brown blah new labour batrayal blah blah lies blah spin blah. I've had enough.
paul, london, uk
how many deaths are needed before some takes some proper authoritative action and parents learn to instil some morals in to their children?
Olivia, London,
too many good peope are dying for standing up to bad behaviour from those who have no self control or respect for another human being and this country, they need to look at themselves and see their evil behavour for what it is and be shown the personal damage they have done.
mel p, cardiff,
It's time to get tough! Stop blaming society and start blaming the parents of these young thugs for allowing them to carry knives. May I suggest, 400 hours of community service for their parents?
Mike C, London, UK
My God, what is happening to the UK?
It seems to be "progressing" towards anarchy - surely even a so called "Police State" would be better than this spiral towards constant violence?
The Police, at least, are accountable, the gun men and knife carriers don't seem to be!
This is terrorism!!
Terry, Bagneres, France
Luckily, banning handguns in the UK has worked so well, none of us ever need to worry about gun crime!
I expect that this is another stunning example of Labour "making the right long term decisions for our country"...
