Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a teenager was stabbed to death during an argument a party.
The 16-year-old boy was knifed at a house in the Old Swan area of Liverpool, which is on the outskirts of the city centre.
Police were called just after 7am today and found the injured youth. He was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries.
A Home Office post mortem examination is due to take place later today.
Merseyside Police Superintendent Graham Yip said: “It appears that this incident took place following an argument at a party at this property.
“We are appealing for anyone who was at the address during the course of this party to come forward and make contact with the police.
“House-to-house inquiries are ongoing and there is a high visibility police presence in the area.”
A 20-year-old woman neighbour who lives close to where the boy was stabbed said the family who lived in the house were "lovely" and their two boys were "nice".
She heard screams, coming from young men, around 7am.
“As far as I’m aware it was one of the friends of the teenage boys who live with their family at the house," she said.
“The family are lovely. I don’t know if it was a party and I haven’t really heard any parties. The two lads who live there are nice.
“We were all looking outside at 7am this morning and there was an ambulance and seven or eight police officers. Everyone was looking out shocked. It’s a nice street.”
Another neighbour Mona Bannon, 74, said: “Its frightening when it happens on your front doorstep. I heard four lads running down the road at around 7am and then the sound of the two police cars. It’s normally quiet around here.”
A boy, aged 15, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and will be questioned by investigating officers.
- A fifth teenager has been arrested by police investigating the fatal stabbing of Charles Junior Hendricks in Walthamstow, east London, last Sunday.
The 16-year-old is being held at an east London police station. Another two 16-year-olds arrested on Thursday remain in custody, while two further youths, aged 19 and 17, remain on police bail.
Charles, known as CJ, was the 24th teenager to be stabbed or shot dead in London this year.
