Kingston upon Thames Seven robbers, whose crime spree ended when their mastermind and his accomplice were shot dead by police, were given long jail terms yesterday.

The men targeted vans taking cash to banks and netted £500,000. Raids took place at 18 locations in the South and East Anglia between April 2006 and September 2007 but were halted when a marksman killed Mark Nunes, 35, and Andrew Markland, 36, in a foiled raid at an HSBC branch at Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire. Terence Wallace, 26, the getaway driver, and Adrian Johnson, 28, received 17-year sentences from Judge Richard Southwell at Kingston Crown Court. Leroy Wilkinson, 30, received 12 years, Leroy Hall and Leon McKenzie, 28, seven years, Brian Henry, 32, six and a half years and Victor Iniodu five years.

Wallace, Johnson, Wilkinson and Iniodu were convicted of conspiracy to rob after a seven-week trial. The others admitted being part of Nunes’s gang before the trial.
