When i sit outside on the grass in summertime, my feet face forwards. I have heard that in Thailand, it isconsidered rude/insulting to point your feet at a person. So, if a Thai person is in the vicinity, is it my responsibility to crouch rather than sit? or the Thai's responsibility to walk around behind me? Or to accept that his culture and my culture are different and not to take offence where none is intended? The point being, if we modify our behaviour to suit others, we are being untruthful to ourselves.
